I don't know what you take out of that one. Sloppy passing, poor D, Holtby was mediocre at best, lots of giveaways. Just garbage. Niskanen played his worst game all year and the D-men weren't getting anything out clearly.
Caps looked slow and out of sync and completely surrendered center ice. Sloppy passing all around and not nearly enough shooting. They're going to need to execute better than that, or it's going to be another early exit.
The biggest concern I have coming out of game 1 is faceoffs. However Strome scored the game winner off a faceoff. Other than that the game plan was played to perfection. The last thing I expected was Capuano to out coach Trotz, but it happened in Game 1.
What a game! The Isles seemed to control most of the play and played about as good as you can on the road. Timely goals and their PK looked pretty good. Ovie didn't have much room out there.
That being said, the Caps just didn't look like themselves last night at all. Sluggish, high risk passing and just general malaise. Trotz should be upset about the effort.
