Hamhuis shoots left ... Ballard shoots left ... Tanev shoots right

Av is leery to play the d on their on their opposite side so I guess we will see how much or how little confidence he still has in Ballard

Well awesome game last night. All the penalties in the first half of the game really took the excitement out of it but at least they let them play in the third for that thrilling finish. The better team won game one I do believe. Vancouver has so many glorious scoring chances but Thomas proved why he is the best in the league right now in goal.

One thing watching last night's game was how similar this Final is looking to last year. It was pretty evident as the game went on that Vancouver's speed and aggressive attack style was wearing out the much slower Bruins. The Hawks had a similar advantage over the Flyers a year ago. Chara and Seidenberg didn't look like they had much left by the end of the game.

I still think the Bruins can win this series, especially if Thomas is just as amazing as he was last night. That being said, when Vancouver turned their game on, Boston couldn't handle it. Cutting down their speed is going to be a must if they have any chance of beating the Canucks 4 times. The Bruins have been very resilient when being down in a series before, but this is much better opponent this time.

.

one of the scribes had mentioned that a byproduct of having Chara in front of the net on powerplays (besides losing the hardest shot in the league), was that he is in prime punishment zone, and the Canucks were definitely taking advantage of that. That'll wear on a guy who plays 28 min a game.

Game 2 Keys

Canucks

- overcome potential loss of Hammer.
- get the PP to bury some
- survive bostons attack in the 1st
- keep the PK strong
- hammer Chara
- patience with Thomas he will be spectacular again
- beat with speed
- attack them wave after wave
- keep it clean no diving (Im looking at you Henrik)

Bruins

- PP production
- Keep PK strong
- Survive Canucks first 10 mins and entire 3rd period
- shorten Chara minutes
- keep it clean no diving (Im looking at you Thomas on Burrows)
- dont depend on Thomas
- slow them frakers down

cant wait - 2 more sleeps

Yeah I was wondering about that. Vancouver's depth is a handful and they need Chara to have full attention in his defensive roll. Putting him in front of the net is a clear panic move by a team whose PP is horrible and looking for any answer. Having big Z getting bashed around in front on the power play is just not a good idea

the rest of the story:

Game One of the Stanley Cup Final between the Vancouver Canucks and the Boston Bruins was the highest-rated NHL game in the history of CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA with average audience of 5.6 million and a peak of 7.8 million.

It is the single highest audience for an NHL playoff and regular season game on CBC, shattering the previous record of 4.96 million set in 1994 with the Game 7 Stanley Cup final match-up between the Vancouver Canucks and the New York Rangers.

It was also the second most-watched sports program on CBC, behind only the 2002 Olympic Men’s Hockey Final between Canada and the USA in Salt Lake City which drew an audience of 8.96 million viewers.
