I think it counts, I mean the Stars eliminated the Avs and Knights while the Bolts took out the President trophy winners on their way to the SCF. Whomever wins this is fully deserving of being crowned champion.

Should be some sort of an asterisk because teams had a chance to get healthy and not all reg season games were completed. If the Jackets had made a run, I would have expected a huge Asterisk because Jones, Atkinson, Murray, Bjorkstrand and Merzlikins were all hurt and would have missed the opening of the playoffs had they started on time. And there's the huge question of if the Jackets would have even gotten in without those guys.

Lightning would have never had the services of Stamkos had they started on time. Still touch and go if they get him, but if they do it's an advantage they shouldn't have expected.

Agreed. Conditioning, depth, and injury luck are all a big part of winning a championship. But when you give a team several months to get all of their starters back/back to 100%, that's a huge difference for some teams.

If you think about it, Tampa started a little behind because Stamkos still isn’t back yet. So what they’ve done is a little harder than the other teams.
