Yah they collected a lot of points in the regular season riding
the top 6 guys but in the playoffs when you have to rely on grit from
your bottom 6 there was nothing there ... Was michal grabner gonna macth muscle with andrew ladd?
Was darcy hordichuk gonna go stride for stride with troy brouwer

There is depth on d now an we can withstand a guy having his testicle obliterated

I like the looks and chances of going in to a playoff series withwhat we have now versus

the flyers powerplay is about as pitiful of a powerplay as i've seen in my relatively short life

I hear what your sayin though, but look at our team last year. We upgraded and it isn't really paying off that greatly. We went to the cup with a worse team than we have now!

I understand. and no, I'm no taking your questioning as dissing the team.

The thing about our changes is that they have been targeted specifically to fix our weaknesses from the past two years.

- Chicago absolutely owned our 3rd line in the playoffs in the past two years, as the Ducks did the year before. with Torres and Malhotra, that is a much more solid group (and faceoffs are vastly improved, which helps everything).
- Our defense has been pretty thin when we get a couple of injuries, having to play guys like Baumgartner, Rome, O'Brien, Mike Weaver heavy minutes. Bringing in a couple of durable guys like Hamhuis and Ballard addresses that.
- having band-aids as back-up goalies was like giving points away in the last couple of years, and meant we were pressed to play Luongo way too much down the stretch. Schneider is 5-0-2 in his starts this year.

so again... we had weaknesses over the past couple of years that cost us in the playoffs, and have made some pretty significant upgrades to address them. Also, losing Wellwood and Bernier off of the powerplay is a HUGE bonus right there.
