I was there... and feeling sick to my stomach for most of the game. Injury after injury. I wanted to throw up. Made it tough to enjoy the good parts of the game and I spent most of the third quarter pacing the smoking area and burning out my cell phone battery scouring for Bradford updates. Thank God he appears to be okay.
Trumaine Johnson appeared to be the worst of them all. Looks like he could miss a significant amount of time. Perhaps even the season. It was so sad as they carted him off. He appeared to be crying. All in all, though... both the offense and defense looked MUCH improved. The result of actual game planning, I presume. Both Brian Quick and Kenny Britt look like the real deal. Could be the best WR tandem we've had in St. Louis in years. Tavon Austin didn't do much because he simply didn't get a whole lot of snaps, or targets. There were a lot of 2 WR sets and Britt and Quick were the chosen personnel. I think our passing game is going to surprise a LOT of people, though. Only time will tell.
Yea, Johnson suffered a pretty bad injury. The rest will probably be ready for the opener. I agree with you Caynine about the WR tandem of Britt and Quick. Two tall, big-bodied receivers who are going to surprise alot of people if they continue to play like they did last night. Now if we can just get Cook and Kendricks to catch passes we will be pretty darn good. That TE Bayer, undrafted FA is the real deal. He may be playing alot as well. I was impressed with Bayer and Davis. Even though Davis was running for his life most of the time, he managed to get some scores out of his time on the field.
We need to get our O-line squared away. With all the injuries it is now a weak point again. The two obvious areas to address in the draft this next year will be O-line and LBs. Depth is a problem right now on both although it is more glaring on the O-line than with LBs. We shall see.
