Tyler Beede has apparently looked really, REALLY good this Spring. Now, many guys look great in Spring and it literally means nothing, but we have info regarding what's changed. He's apparently really taken in some coaching from the new blood in the F.O.. If you'll remember, it was the Giants old regime that drastically overhauled his mechanics and pitch selection, which led to inconsistent results.

For what it's worth, he's completely bought-in to all the adjustments and been a total pro about it (something a familiar former prospect was renowned for NOT doing - Gary Brown). He doesn't seem to at all hold animosity for what the Giants did to him, which would be totally fair. At least it's not coming off that way in interviews.

He's eradicated three pitches, the 2-seam, the cutter and the slider (two pitches the Giants basically forced him to exclusively throw in A+ and AA for a bit). He's changed the grip on his 4-seam and curveball and has gotten better command and more natural spin.

We'll see if this can translate, but it's wonderful to see the confidence in the kid.

I hope he does well in spring training (Henry, as well as Heliot). I like Henry Ramos better, offsenively at least, than Andreoli.

The Giants have something like 20 relievers competing for the final 2-3 spots in the bullpen.

I think FZ is loading up to trade Watson and/or Smith.

Not necessarily. Bumgarner, yes. But Cueto won't be back this year (and if he is, it will be towards the end of the season and he'll have rust on him), Samardzija I have little faith in being anything more than a number 4 guy and Rodriguez could regress. If either Suarez or Stratton become the ace, that could be just as big as Beede becoming the ace.

Forgot about him. He's got a lot to prove to come back from last season's debacle. He's got the talent to do it but putting it together won't be an easy feat. He could just as easily be released as he could be flipped in July for prospects.
