Kerry Crowley‏ @KO_Crowley 3h3 hours ago
This trade happened a few days ago, but the Giants acquired catcher Ronnie Freeman from the D’backs for cash. Freeman was in the organization last year. Will provide minor league depth.
How did he end up with Arizona in the first place? Baseball America announced that he re-signed with the Giants before minor league free agency was declared. I didn't see any transactions for him since then. I wonder if he was traded to Arizona and Crowley's source got it confused.
Edit: Here is what BA lists for minor league transactions between Oct. 20th and Nov. 5th, 2018:
San Francisco Giants
Signed: LHP Yhonson Rojas (re-signed) | C Ronnie Freeman (re-signed) | 1B Brock Stassi (re-signed)
Additionally, his minor league page has this for the last transaction for him:

February 26, 2019 C Ronnie Freeman assigned to San Francisco Giants.

There is nothing that shows him being in the D-Backs org prior to this week.
