Undisputed 1

How many undisputed National Championships do the Huskers have?

This is a fun debate though
We have won just as much as you
No we have won just as much as you
So on and so forth

1971 UNDISPUTED beat the final ranked #2, #3, and #4 teams giving the #2 and #4 teams their only loss
1995 UNDISPUTED please read link below, beat the #2, #5, #11, and #12 final ranked teams by a margin of 34 points per game

NFL.com lists 1995 Huskers as greatest of all time Big Ten Network

1994 almost UNDISPUTED beat Miami on their home field, Miami was something like 61-1 on that field. Penn State beat #12 Oregon(three losses to Hawaii, Utah, and Washington State), whereas Nebraska beat #3 ranked Miami on their home field.

Dude relax wasn't questioning the Huskers National Championships, I know they are legit.

Undisputed is just a neat reminder that the Buckeyes won the Play off in 2014 making them Undisputed National Champions.
Witnessing the Buckeyes Beat Sparty, Michigan, Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon was beyond thunderdome awesome. It is something I will appreciate until the day I die.

Sucks don't it.

Husker fans aren't all that impressed.

Incredible year last year though.
First and only, they should be impressed. Nebraska fans are sounding like Mi. fans. But but look what happened 20 years ago...

Bowl game wins from 1960 to January 2011

Big 8 and Big 12
114 wins
109 losses

Big Ten
95 wins
120 losses

That statistic sort of lets you know which team had an easier path.

To be fair, the Big Ten pretty much played all of their bowl games as actual AWAY games.
The Big 8 played all of their bowl games as AWAY games.
The Big 12 definitely had home field advantage in those Texas bowls.
One of the Big 8 wins and one of the Big 8 losses is because Nebraska lost to Oklahoma in the 1979 Orange Bowl.
Why are stats being cherry picked? Its most storied program.

We could play the same game and post shit like this from 2000 onward. You know, when we won 2 nattys.

For the record, I'm happy for Ohio St winning the inaugural play-off.

That doesn't take away from the fact that the Big 10 was over-pimped (along with ND) by the media for decades with little to show for it. Outside of USC, the Big 10 had it easy being locked in the Rose Bowl with the PAC-10. Through that period, Nebraska and Oklahoma were playing the Florida St's, Miami's, Alabama's, LSU's etc.. in the Sugar and Orange Bowls.

One really only needs to look at Ohio St and the rest of the Big 10's record against the SEC vs Nebraska's record vs the SEC, to grasp the reality of the last 60 years or so. Nebraska couldn't and didn't hide from anybody like the Big 10 could in the Rose Bowl. Nebraska was quick to join the Bowl Coalition (formed in 1992) and the Bowl Alliance (formed in 1995) that would pit the top two teams against one another.

The Big 10 REFUSED to join. Hence Penn St ducking Nebraska in 1994 and Michigan ducking Nebraska in 1997. It's just that simple.

The BIG 10 did most certainly shy away from the big games with the big programs down south. Always pulled the "tradition" card and said we play in the Rose Bowl. Funny that it never stopped USC from playing those same programs.

Good Post Red-Alert.

How many years does a doucehbag Texas fan have to get to 2 National Titles?

30? Nope. 40? Nearly 50 years.

God bless Texas.

I picked Nebraska. But next round?

If only they could have beaten Texas, they would be the all-time champion!

If it comes to that, I will have to pick OU over Nebraska as well.

The trouble will be picking between USC, Oklahoma, and Alabama.

The Big 10's record isn't really all that bad against the SEC outside of Ohio State.

37-20? Yikes, haha. Cue the "Ohio State can't compete in the big games" crowd. I figured this would be a lot closer.

Cherry picked? Sorry I only included the last 55 years. One of the Ohio State voters and the PennStateNut mentioned the Big 8 was just the big 2 and Nebraska had it easy.

I posited that the Big Ten was just Ohio State and Michigan and that the Big Ten technically had an easier road because the Big Ten bowl games bear out the fact that the Big 10 lost more bowl games than it won.

I also gave the years of 1960 and 1961, which Nebraska stunk.

I posted information that showed that the Big 8 and Big 12 had more bowl wins than the Big 10. Which almost means that the Big 8/Big 12 had a tougher schedule.

Cherry Picked? I gave you Nebraska from 2001 onward. Nebraska did diddly from then. The Top Ten finishes DRASTICALLY changed from 2001 onward. Ohio State gained something like 18 to 0 during that stretch.

Tell you what. You cherry pick the years 1960, 1961, 2002 - 2014. That will give you 15 years.
I will cherry pick the years 1962-2001, that will give me 40 years.

Or we just include the entire history of the programs :noidea:

Or we just include the entire history of the programs :noidea:
Wins

Nebraska 874
Ohio State 863

win%
Ohio State 0.720
Nebraska 0.712

Bowl records
Nebraska 25-26
Ohio State 22-24

only nine schools have a win % over 70%.

Colorado has more wins than any Big Ten schools not named Michigan or Ohio State. Which sort of appears to support the idea that just maybe the Big Ten was an easier path.
