Although it would be kind of funny/fitting if Alabama got a rematch against USC and won, I don't think it's really needed. The discussion has been done really and that is what I thought was the point of it all. There is really no way a repeat is going to generate the same interest.

Bingo

This isn't like a 3 hour CWS game where it's done and over. It's a week long banter.
Also the CWS bracket is double elimination. You lose twice, you GTFO, and it doesn't really matter if you don't win the championship.

If anything, Alabama (1 loss) would get a shot at the Oklahoma/Notre Dame Loser for 2nd place. If they beat them then they get shot at the Oklahoma/Alabama (undefeated) winner, but redoing teams with two losses where they've already been bantered is silly.

I don't understand why it matters. It's an internet poll that means next to nothing. It gives us all a chance to yammer on about college football while we kill time during the off season. But in the end, I don't think anyone will care one way or another after the results are determined.

It matters to you. Otherwise you wouldn't be yappin' about it.

I'm thinking this recent tear by Red Alert is because the Big Ten isn't as easy as he thought it was going to be. He is blowing up over all things B1G. This format has been in place since the first week and is whining about the set up now. If you don't like the set-up don't come into the thread.

Nebraska has beaten every team it has faced in the Big 10 at least once.

You are right in that I'm not a Big 10/Notre Dame homer. They are the most OVER-RATED conference and independent in the last 50 years. Week in and week out I prayed that Beano Cook would choke on a fuckin' chicken wing.

blah blah blah blah Ohio State. blah blah blah blah Michigan. blah blah blah blah Notre Dame

Not sure what the big deal is. There's always a chance of a re-match when a tournament uses a losers bracket. Maybe it was unnecessary in a "poll tournament" because it's opinion based and people are unlikely to change their opinion on it. But who cares? It's been a fun poll and great way to kill some time in the off-season.

I'm thinking he doesn't understand how the bracket works

Do two loss teams in the CWS keep playing for placement?
Do one loss teams in March Madness keep playing for placement?

I understand why you guys want a do-over, but I think it's silly.

What tournament uses a losers bracket that isn't based on double elimination at the most? Can you enlighten me?

Generally when a team loses one or two games (depending on the bracket) they go home. They are not the champs.

Good bye, gtfo, maybe next time, no you can't keep playing until you finally win.

My question is this....

If Ohio St wins the rematch with Nebraska (after another week of banter), will their be a rubber match (tie breaker) best of three, and another week of banter?

Same goes for USC/Alabama. If Alabama beats them in the rematch, shouldn't it go to the best of 3?

I don't exactly mind a rematch, it would be kind of funny if Alabama won the rematch with USC given recent events.

I just wouldn't figure people would want to discuss it in the same light again. I really don't care who wins.

I agree it's been fun. I have an idea for next years off season that might end up being crazy good.

Yeah, maybe. Generally speaking, I doubt there'd be enough change to cause a different outcome (although I agree it would be funny if it did) unless it was originally a close vote.

I think the explanations of those who changed their vote might make for some interesting discussion. I don't care who wins either, just been a fun time filler.

Kudos to iowajerms for the time and effort.

This seems to be based on the same type of bracketing system I've seen used in high school basketball tournaments and in a basketball tournament that I used to play in in Las Vegas years ago.

Basically, you are "guaranteed" 2 games. If you lose 2 games straight out of the gate, you're done. But if you can win a couple of games around those 2 losses, you can continue on playing for 5th and 7th place. So, it's entirely possible that if you ended up in, for example, the 7th place game, you could actually end up with 3 losses in the tournament.

The matchups have been fun and it has been obvious that it has educated a lot of people on the history of CFB in general, and their own teams specifically, instead of walking through life as a CFB History dumbass.

Thanks Iowajerms. These things take a lot of time and you did a good job.

So if the team that lost the first time wins the second time, do they play a third time?

Not that I ever saw. Maybe it could happen. I did see a re-match from time to time. Never really cared that much to look that far into it. I was just focused on whatever game was next or getting home once my team was out.

Thank you. If/when Nebraska loses to Alabama they should be out. End of story.

Did LSU and Alabama play a third game after the national title game? Should we change the format because you have 50lbs of sand in your vagina?

If you don't like the way that this was set up two months ago, just stop going to the threads. Nothing is forcing you to go into these threads. It gives people something to talk about while waiting for the regular season.

That was not a bracket. :L

However, they should have played a 3rd time to make it legit.

I'm not really agreeing or disagreeing with your take or anyone else's. I think it's just a quirk of having a tournament that includes a losers bracket this extensive. I've seen tournaments where they go as far as 11th place games.

Like I said, I've never cared enough beyond what my own team did to really look into it. The more games the better, imo.
