Either I failed to properly explain it or you are missing the point of the your own team out deal. Like I said, get the right format, pop it into excel, give weight to votes, tally points, then average for eligible voters.

Say there are 50 total voters and 5 Virginia Tech voters. Virginia Tech's votes are tallied and weighted 1 to 25. Divide by 45 eligible voters (the 45 non- VT fans). Rank this final result. Its a normalized scale of sorts.

Now when it gets down to it in to a real close call, say two undefeated teams where the non-fans are split on who is better, yes, this method is advantageous to the smaller fan bases. However, it does mitigate silly homerism, which was the biggest controllable issue raised.

Maybe this idea is overboard and unnecessary. When its all said and done, there is no solution besides posters giving serious votes.

Ooo, I like this plan....

Preventing voters from voting for their own team won't remove bias. It will only skew results. Any poll has bias. Homerism comes into play but familiarity comes into play much more I believe. You see it in the coaches and the writers.

People see more regional games then national so they are more familiar with their conference. You can look at scores and stats all day long but if it is before a conference team you see week in and week out then you are going to place that team according to the intimate knowledge you have of that team while a non-conference team you have seen once is going by stats.

As for Husker Bias it is there and is weighted by the population but I really believe most tried to place them in a spot they felt they deserved. I knwo I only participated in a few but I try to honestly analyze where we are and if anything I am more condemning of them in the rankings then another team.

And I apologize for the joking around. I was not trying to hi-jack the topic, just inject a little humor.

I think everyone should just vote seriously. plain and simple

bias is tough to tell

how do you determine that???

do to how college football is today we don't know who is truly better than who

the problem is everyone is biased

especially the TV networks, ESPN was in love with the SEC and Notre Lame but now that Texas formed a network with them I'm sure that's where their bias will go

CBS has been sucking the SEC's dick for awile now

same with NBC and Notre Lame.

I think 247 came up with a good idea for the SportsHoopla top 25 poll, but it got zapped.
