Halladay should be a slam dunk, but it does depend on how voters view today's pitchers I guess. He was unquestionably one of the best pitchers since 2000 and was probably the best pitcher in MLB for at least 3-4 years (maybe 5). Along with a 131 ERA+, he had seven seasons where he led his league in complete games and led in IP four times.

Pettitte's career stats look very solid (career 117 ERA+), but he only had three full seasons with an ERA+ north of that. He was an above average pitcher for a long time with three excellent seasons (96, 97, 05).

His postseason clutchness is a bit exaggerated, but it's hard to ignore a 3.81 ERA (which is still quite good in his era) in 276.2 innings.

I would think writers realize reaching 300 wins in today's climate is unlikely. Halladay being dominant during his time makes him a HoFer. Maybe 250 wins or something around there is the new 300 due to all of the specialty relievers.

I just hope Raines gets in. It's his last shot, I believe. And I hope Edgar Martinez gets in so he is there before Big Papi becomes elegible. Beyond that, I think it's time we forget the roids and move on. I think Bonds and Clemens have to be in the hall. There are a few others too but Bonds is arguably, one of the greatest players the game has ever seen. Sad that he will always be such a controversial figure and nobody sees his greatness for what it was.

I'm interested in seeing how the writers approach Pettitte. Halladay has a chance. Buehrle has a fool's chance with the perfect game, no hitter and 214 wins with ERA under 4.

Agreed with Pettitte....he was better than Jack Morris (who peaked at about 68% of the vote), but the PEDs should hurt him. Even without the PED cloud I wouldn't put him in, but those 5 rings and 19-11 playoff record will appeal to some voters.

Halladay's main problem is lack of longevity (only 2700 innings and 8 seasons topping 160 innings), but he had a 10 year stretch from 2002-2011 that stacks up well to many pitchers in the HOF.

Hoffman had a 3.8% bump from the pre-results to the actual results. So he could get in this year if that happens again.

As a Giants fan, I hated his guts, but watching him play, I never doubted that he was a great pitcher, especially when you consider the offense-happy era in which he played. I'm surprised that he's nowhere close to the 75% needed. Yeah, he says crazy things, but a Hall voter is overly sensitive if that impacts one's voting.

And yes, I support Bonds and Clemens in the Hall, too, so maybe I am wacky.

I would think he's a shoo-in for the Video Game Developer Hall of Fame.

Both Schilling and Mussina should've been in by now, but were unlucky to pitch during the same era as 4 of the best 10-15 pitchers ever (Clemens, Maddux, Johnson, Pedro).....so they end up with underrated/overlooked careers cause those 4 legends were dominating the era and getting much of the accolades.

100% agreed. He should be in. 3000 strikeouts, 3000 IP, and a 127 ERA+. Only Roger Clemens, Walter Johnson, Randy Johnson, Bob Gibson, Tom Seaver, Greg Maddux, and Curt Schilling have done that.

Yup those guys are Tier 1 HOFers. Mussina and Schilling are in the same company as the Tier 2 guys of the era in Glavine and Smoltz. All 4 should be in, not just 2.
