he's on the main board.. he likes the deal.

it improves the rangers for sure, but your captain, and 1st, and a 2nd (that could become a 1st) for a guy that asked to be traded specifically to your team, so you didn't have anyone to bid against..

i think if they waited a few more hours they could've gotten him for less..

i dont want any part of byfuglien. he's essentially a more extreme mark streit (all offense no defense), and the jets want top pair dman value for him.

Then forget that as well...lol

Not denying that it makes the Rangers better right now. However, MSL retires after next year and you are out your captain and two high picks. Way too much in my opinion.

lol.. tough climate to improve the flyers on defense right now.. top pair dmen are crazy expensive and any shortcuts involve big risks (ie, trading for luke schenn)

wow.. rangers got absolutely fleeced. yes, MSL will make their offense better. but for how long? 2-3 more years realistically? and that 2nd round pick becomes a 1st if they make the eastern conference finals. and MSL said he only would go to NY... so basically NY was bidding against themselves. feel like the deal could have been done a lot cheaper for NY. not complaining!

It only makes them better offensively. They are losing a lot in Callahan board work backcheck shot blocking and leadership. This deal could make them the smallest team in the league.

It's the ten year age difference in players that makes the trade so lopsided given that St. Louis will retire in a couple seasons and Callahan will re-sign with Tampa.

Yep agreed but at the same time Callahan screwed them with his demands so they probably had no choice. Same with St. Louis and the whole Team Canada fiasco. Real change in identity for both teams hopefully that messes up their chemistry....

Callahan might not re-sign with Tampa but Tampa could also use the picks they got, to get Kesler or Edler

Basically, it's a win/win for Tampa as far as I'm concerned. They're already getting Stamkos back, so the loss of St. Louis doesn't hurt much if at all offensively. I wonder how many years the Rangers think St. Louis has left.

Mez being traded doesn't surprise me they added a top 4 which was an upgrade over Mez and at the moment cheaper salary....

Its a shame it took this long for him to be healthy and start playing well again and now we have too many defense and need to shed his salary

Looks like Vanek went to Montreal for a 2nd and prospect. Should Homer have kicked the tires on this for a Vanek rental the rest of the year?
