Jason Peters was technically an undrafted tight end.

And as far as kickers go....there's a lot. Dan Bailey, John Carney, Justin Tucker, Adam Vinatieri, etc. Whomever would like to make a list, be my guest.

Another thing I've noticed about kickers is the change in standard. Jan Stenerud is the first kicker inducted into Canton and he had a FG% of 66.8 and PAT% of 96.5. Morten Andersen, the other K in the Hall, had a FG% of 79.7. Today, those numbers will get you cut. If you aren't at least 80%+ chances are you'll get replaced. Coaching and training I suppose are the main reasons. Kicking back in the day was an afterthought.

I think the one that stands out the most for me is Antonio Gates. But it really shows what a crap shoot the draft really is.
yeah, but gates didnt play football in college. Its kinda easy to see why he wasnt drafted. Incredible story, but i get it.

Joe Reitz is another MAC guy that didn't play CFB. Was our center at WMU, in basketball.

Then played OLine in front of Peyton Manning with the Colts.

The same could be said if you look at the completion percentages of the QB's in the 60's, 70's as compared to the more modern WCO passing game.

I do agree that the kicking game 40 and 50 years ago consisted of extra points and mostly desperate FG attempts. It amazes me that the coaches back then seemed to barely value each and every point.

Excellent point. Example:

Joe Namath--50.1%, 27,663 yards, 173 TD-220 INT, 65.5 passer rating--Hall-of-Fame

Eli Manning--60.3%, 57,023 yards, 366 TD-244 INT, 84.5 passer rating--Hall-of-Fame? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NO!!! HE SUCKED!!!

Yeah, the great QB's of the early years of the modern game (the forward pass era) have statistics that pale in comparison many mediocre quarterbacks in the last 20-30 years.

The guy in this years draft i could see being the next Gates/Graham is Ahmad Wagner out of Kentucky. 3 years of CBB then 1 good year of CFB. Guy is an athlete and is big and fast. He probably gets drafted though

Cory Clement undrafted RB. Doesn't look like he will have much of a career at this point but he had a very productive rookie season as well as Super Bowl performance.
