Sir Robin Of Camelot
You seem angry. Miserable, even.
Anthony Richardson “tapped out”?
I‘m pretty certain I’m looking for a way to jettison that dude.

Oh you mean the guy that did not “fit” the defense? The guy that just might be a hall of fame player that was sitting there for Dallas to pick? Gee what was his name….. something about light bulbs which were burnt out in our frat room that year …..
OH OH OH it was T.J. Watt a typical Jerry Jones I am smarter than the rest of the NFL move.
You suck Jerry
I hope there is not gonna be a test...We can cut him but with huge cap hits. Less as it goes on of course. Spotrac shows a chunk of his base guaranteeing each March. If we don't kick a huge amount down the road we can reasonably cut him any time after the 2025 season. But next years cap hit is $82M so I can't imagine we will restructure him next year which would make him harder to cut from a cap perspective.
As an example and assuming we don't restructure him next year (even though we will) if we cut him in March of 2026 but designate him a post 6/1 cut:
2026 cap hit: $28M; do nothing current cap hit $68M so big savings (but need another QB)
2027 cap hit: $34M; do nothing current cap hit $62M so big savings
two year total if cut $62M; two year total if keep $130M; two year savings $68M
But in reality if we restructure him next year and reduce his base from $48M to $8M (reduce by $40M) that will leave $8M in the 2025 year and push $32M out to other years so the $62M dead money for 25-26 in the example above becomes $94M. So unless you tick off all of that 2025 cap hit he kind of becomes uncuttable. This is the main reason I wanted to not sign him nor restructure him this year. It was the only way to reset his cap hit so that he his old dead money is gone and he becomes cuttable in future years. I assume the team will restructure him each year and when he leaves after 2028 we will have a monstrous dead money hit. The refusal to move on has destroyed this team's chances IMO. The problem with Dak isn't that he isn't worth $60M per year because very few are. The problem is I'm not sure he is even worth $40M per based on his play.
