I think your being a bit harsh Wiz. Sure it was a bad bet in the sense that bskballer only needs one lose and Fudge needs the Seahawks to sweep the next three games to win. However bskballer is really the reverse Nostradamus. He wrong almost every time, so in a sense having him declare that the Seahawks will not win the SB , is kind of doing us a favor.
Also the set up is sweet for the Seahawks to win. The way I see it the Seahawks will play the winner of the Panther/Cardinal game, the Cowboys beat the Lions, then lose at GB. GB comes here and loses and that leaves the SB. I like the Seahawks chances here.
Shoot Fudge deserves a at a boy IMO, not a lecture.

It's only two games, not three, but the odds of winning two games in a row is likely under 50%. It's just an odds thing. Especially when you don't know who either game is actually against.

We're talking about the mathematical probability of events in a series. You flip a coin and there's a 50% chance for either outcome, but only a 25% chance you flip heads twice in a row, for example. 3x would be 12.5%.














Not convinced it's a clean application to humans playing sports, but if you say we have an 80% chance to win the div round and a 60% chance in the NFCC, that would be 48% to advance to the SB as we sit here right now. Even if it is only about 50% chance, that's a better shot that any other team.

Exactly. If Seattle has a 60% chance of winning game 1, that's 40% that they won't make it to game 2. So their 60% chance of winning game 2, is only 60% of the 60%, which is 36% chance. If they have a 60% chance of winning the Super Bowl on top of that, then that moves them to 60% of the remaining 36% chance (21.6%). BTW, Las Vegas has Seattle winning the Super Bowl at higher than that....
