You could be right. I've got him borderline but I'm pulling for him since he played for my NC State Wolfpack.
The problem is he has no SB wins and his playoff record is not good.

With respect to the HOF, there should be either two separate halls or two separate sections of the current one with a sharpened emphasis on pre and post rule changes.

Records should reflect the same as well as record holders. Take note that the crossover event has been the Super Bowl with records in that event also reflecting rule changes that heighten offensive production and handicaps defenses.

More forward thinking involved here but at first glance I like your idea.

You're probably right and concerning Rivers, look how long he sat behind Brees in San Diego before he even got his chance.

Anyone here know how many QBs have a better win % than Alex Smith the last 10 years ???

1. 1 QB. Tom Brady .

77-36-1 is Smiths record the last 10 years.

You are correct and this is why I have him borderline but his passing yardage is off the charts.

77-36-1 is Smiths record the last 10 years.

Does it matter? He plays one half of the game...from there he is 1/12th of the offense.

In the last ten years, AS has a record of

13-3 in 2011 with 2 scoring D And 8 rush offense
6-2-1 in 2012 with 2 scoring D and 4 rush offense...side note, Kap was 5-2 as the starter
11-4 in 2013 with 6 scoring D and 10 rush offense
8-7 in 2014 with 2 scoring D and 10 rush offense
11-5 in 2015 with 3 scoring D and 6 rush offense
10-4 in 2016 with 7 scoring D and 15 rush offense...side note, Foles saved his ass in one of those.
9-6 in 2017 with 15 scoring D and 9 rush offense
6-4 in 2018 with 15 scoring D and 17 rush offense
2-2 in 2020 with 7 scoring defense and 19 rush offense

As you can see, the winning directly correlates to the defense and rushing. The better those two are, the better the win percentage. From there, he was easily replaced in both locations...the third location here, without a dominant defense and run game, his win percentage is much worse.

Winning correlates to those things for every QB . Smith still wins way more than most others. Hes 2-1 this year btw. Meaning he hasn't had a losing record in 10 years . 10. He took over a 2-14 team in KC and they made the playoffs . Hes 8-5 in Washington with a team who is 6-24 with the same roster when he doesn't start.

Good points. We know who Smith is and isn't. Let's hope with this Defense and Gibson toting the rock that he can string together a few more wins!

I just don't get why fans of teams with perfectly good QBs are always so anxious to dump them. I see the same thing with Falcon fans

They absolutely do regarding defense...not so much on run game. Here is he difference. AS has never been asked to do much and when he was on a mediocre team, there were mediocre to less than mediocre results.

He didn’t start the game against the NYG, he threw over 30 times, and he threw 3 picks...that is on him.

I think a man named Andy Reid also came over in 2013. How did his teams do when he missed games or was replaced? In 2016, Nick Foles replaced AS in a game AS was 9/19 in and Foles won. Then Foles won the next game. In 2017, he was replaced by Mahomes in the last game and Mahomes won. Now in fairness, Chase Daniel did start the final game twice and they were 1-1. Then there is the SF period, where he was replaced by Kap, who went 5-2 and led them to the SB.

What happened to those teams when he left? Kap was 12-4 with the 49ers. Mahommes went 12-4 when he left. Those teams do not miss AS and they did better when he left.

As far as I know, you have the same amount of SBs and probably the worst SB loss of all time.
Atlanta has been in as many SBs the last 28 years as Washington has playoff wins in total . So.... you want to be excited about shit from the 80s id say the Nebraska board is the place to go

Nope...equally sad over the last 28 years. You simply want to celebrate a mediocre QB...I showed you how those teams improved without him. You then post stupid shit. Sorry not sorry.
