What part are you asking about? That his confidence was shot or that there were some in the organization that thought he was fragile?

His confidence was shot. Just compare his play from his rookie year to last year. Even considering the injury, he was mentally confused on the field. He held the ball way too long, he made rookie mistakes. Also, he is fragile. He's not a big guy. But there are plenty of QBs that are fragile. None of this means that he can't bounce back this year and have a great season and career. To me, this is a non story.

All of it actually. I just threw it out there as we are in a lull and its Skins news. Do find it rather strange that some people were blasted for suggesting that he seemed rather insecure last year and this comes out though. Im just saying.

I think he just didn't trust his teammates. He doesn't have much help and that wears on you.

insecure? Who knows but he was clearly out of sorts. Clearly there was a rift between him and Shanahan. They are still taking shots at one another. I pretty much let this stuff blow over at this point.

I think Robert realizes that he has a lot to prove after last year. No matter what was happening behind the scenes or how much the injury affected his play, the fact is last year raised a lot of questions about RG3 that weren't there his rookie year. He knows he has to prove to everyone that he is a game changing player. I personally think he will rise to the occasion, but I'm not as confident as I was 2 years ago about his success.

I disagree with this in total. His play last year had nothing to do with his teammates. It was the same offense as he had his rookie year. The real problem was that Robert couldn't physically play like he always had. Couple this with the fact that defenses began to figure out how to defend him and he became confused. Then throw in the mind games happening behind the scenes with Shanahan and the result is a sub par season.

As i have said before, I think there is something to the whole insecurity thing. I think that more than anything else fueled alot of his actions last year and I think because of that he wanted the coaches gone. My take is, he has gotten almost everything he wanted to happen once he lost faith and trust in the coaches. So I am expecting MUCH out of him because he got what he wanted. If he isnt on the level of the true franchise QBs within the next two years, I dont think he ever will be.

It was mostly the same talent, but he was able to physically carry basically the whole load his rookie year. Last year, when he needed people to pick up some of the slack while he built back from a severe injury, he got nothing.

And nothing from the coaching staff either. Shanahan is a joke of a football coach and a mediocre human being.

GUess we will see. He got a coach of the type he wanted, an upgraded O-line AND more weapons on the offense. And he is apparently healthy.

So there should be zero excuses from an offensive/Qb standpoint right??

There may be some truth to that, he probably has never been in anyone's dog house before. But I also think that he wasn't alone in his insecurities. Shanahan was also very insecure and showed it by the way he imploded. I think you give Robert too much credit for the shanahan fiasco. The coach himself brought much of it on by his own insecurities.

There are no excuses. He has everything he needs. If he struggles again this year, he may never recover and we will be in the market again for a QB. But if he succeeds, then can you admit that last year was a fluke?

Can you really blame him though?? Shanahan that is. If the boss brings in a rock star and basically makes it known that his rock star that you are supposed to manage will be there no matter what, would you feel secure in your position once said rock star made it rather clear he wanted you gone?? As much as people say Shanahan brought it on himself, I think he was just reacting to the situation he was partially thrown into.

He still needs a lot more line help.

But desean is going to be huge. He may or may not get a lot of catches, but he absolutely will get behind the defense and make some huge plays,

He has a top ten RB, what should be a top ten WR/TE unit, and a coach who has basically come out and said he will do everything he can to keep the QB happy. With that kind of setup we should be able to put Cali behind center and atleast have a top 15 offense. I think last year was more a combination of his injury and his ego getting in the way more than any thing else. He doesnt have the injury excuse any more.

You assume that Shanahan isn't want Robert and that was a Snyder decision. I disagree. I remember vividly shanahan praising Robert before the draft and opening courting him. And I do fault shanahan for the way he handled the situation. He completely mismanaged the entire situation from Robert's injury on. They guy melted under the criticism and the associate circus that resulted from the injury. He imploded. This has nothing to do with RG3, Snyder or anyone else. Shanahan is singularly responsible for his actions, just like Robert is also for his. The reality is the both mismanaged the situation.

I guess we will find out. If the Skins offense still struggles Shanahan wont be there to blame. But I will say this, If Shanahan really wanted RG3 so much, what ever would he have had to be insecure about in the first place??

He is insecure because its a personality flaw that he has probably always had. It came to light because of the scrutiny he fell under in the way he handled Robert in the seattle game. Then Robert's actions last offseason and into preseason pressured him more. Finally, the losing last year pushed him over the edge. BTW, insecurity often goes hand in hand with control freaks, of which he is one.

This could be said about the coach, owner or QB last year I think.
