was Rg3's confidence shot last year ? yes

did he rush back to start because of insecurity ? yes , who wants to be wally pipp ?

is that some kind of character flaw ? NO most every athlete is insecure

any soldier or marine who goes into a fire fight will tell you he is scared (or he is lying ) . how much more can you feel insecure ? and insecurity is a form of fear

Rg3 came back in record time because he was insecure and wanted to win football games

his coach played him to early because he was insecure and wanted to win football games

and all this means what ?

last season is done . i . for one am looking forward to seeing him take the next step he should have last season

it was a disaster last season and everyone had a piece in it . hopefully RG3 learned from it

Robert Griffin III: 2013 Was Filled with Second-Guessing | Bleacher Report

here is the link shark is referencing . if you mash the link in italics about fear and insecurity you go to an NFL .com story from Nov. 24 about the now debunked "dont show my bad plays in front of the team " story

shoot even shanahan said it wasnt true but alas we are rehashing debunked BS

like i said in my previous post

yes Rg3 was insecure of course he was . he came off a devastating knee injury . he wasnt right and he knew it and of course he felt his career could be in jeopardy

he tried to win football games and he did what i and every other honest person on this board felt he should have . start week one and lead us to victory

in hindsight it was all a mistake

the guy is 24 yrs old he has been pampered his whole life he made mistakes and said things he probably would take back today

but for some of you it just aint good enough he wasnt perfect he let you down because you had expectations that were way out of whack and deep down in your heart of hearts you cant forgive that

or you assign blame to him for a trade he had nothing to do with

here to having a great season because last season is done :suds:

You really should start charging for your psychoanalysis services Skinsdad. You are right, its not about the team or the QB and what went on last year and how it has affected the landscape of the team. Its all about our unrealistic expectations and how we are piling onto RG3 because our feelings were hurt. Couldnt be that we just made an observation of what went on and came to our own conclusion even if that conclusion didnt fit into the rah rah uberfan mentality.

To be honest I just threw this out there to point out that maybe those of us who thought his actions and issues last year were at least partially fueled by his ego in insecurity might not have been that far off after all.

I'm quite sure that bulky knee brace didn't help too, his foot work was bad, he had poor decision making sometimes throwing to receivers that were covered and his mechanics weren't very good..but let's not forget last year he didn't even play a snap in pre season this year he will

That's the thing. There isn't any one issue that we can point at and say this was the cause of both his poor play and the poor play of the team. There also isn't any one person. It was a confluence of events and actions that caused our demise. Robert contributed by his actions and personal desires/commitments (all in for week one, for example) and Shanahan had a huge role through his decisions and actions throughout the offseason and into the games. We have been bickering over fault all offseason, but the reality is that there is no innocent party in our downfall. For what ever reason, the relationship between Robert and the shanahans became toxic on both sides. One had to go. Personally, I think Snyder made the right decision, but maybe not for the right reasons. Shanahan needed to be the adult and the HC in this fiasco and he didn't step up. He compounded bad decision after bad decision and didn't take control of the situation, but let it fester. This doesn't absolve Robert or his camp of some of the actions they took. They also proved to be corrosive.

Some of you are so far entrenched in your opinions of who was wrong that you are losing objectivity. I just hope that it doesn't secretly make you hope for the failure of an individual or the team just to prove a point.

Anything of this nature that you hear will come from anonymous sources. No one is going to come out and say, well coach Haslett thinks RG3s problems stemmed from his insecurities any more than RG3 would come out and say I wanted Shanahan fired. Thats the nature of the beast to an extent.

Interview with Robert Griffin III: Trying season has helped fuel Redskins quarterback - The Washington Post

here is an article where you can detect some bitterness in RG3 . . he said the team didnt counteract what other teams were doing to the offense . that goes to lack of half time adjustments .

he said the coaches changed his base . partly because of the injury so shea did kind of cheap shot the staff

he couldnt make audibles at the LOS . that was surprising

4 things he wants to work on is
1- get back to his old self
2- be explosive throwing the ball
3-sharpen chemistry with teammates (so issues could be there ?)
4-improve knowledge of the game

one thing he is testy about is reading defenses he is adamant he can however his reasoning , to me is shaky , "i read defenses well as a rookie and now as a 2nd year player i cant ?" . huh ? !? this is the 1st real evidence of sitting on your laurels from him . that needs to be watched

now shark , and anyone else who wants me to "see the other side " , this is what i need to see. not old debunked articles from 1857

not stories from "league " un- nameed ' anonymous" sources. if you arent man enough to put your name to it then more often the not its BS If you feel "threatened " (which means more often or not you have and agenda or are lying ) then dont say anything .

lastly i dont want to hear about speculation . i deal with facts not your guesses , swags , theories whatever . i want to see or here it . i want to see numbers . the you are a homer , naive , have your head buried in the sand , everyone knows it defense means nothing to me

Mike Shanahan has been a terrible coach his entire contract here. His son and RGIII were on the verge of something special until his terrible decision making probably severely shortened our superstar franchise QB's career.
He was at the bottom of the division until RGIII showed up. Then as the Coach with "full control" he had stayed true his uncanny ability to draft well picking up Morris and shockingly adding Cousins which created media fodder.
All he had to do was pull RGIII, regardless of what he said...and play Cousins...to manage a 14-0 lead.
He continued to send mixed messages in the media about whether he'd start or not for the season( which he shouldn't have) and also didn't play RGIII at all in the pre-season. And we are sitting here talking about practice....not a GAME....practice...oh I mean...of course RGIII was second guessing himself and lacked confidence. His coach was completely frustrated with him and the way the season ended.

Dad, I applaud you for willing to look at the other side objectively. However, 90% of things posted on this board is speculation. That's what all of us do here.
