And yet you still try to pretend that you would like the Skins to keep Cousins. Every day you make numerous posts about badly wanting the Redskins to field offers to get rid of Cousins. Keep living in denial.

No denial. Already told you if we keep KC what has to happen.

OK first off, I have decided that Sty would throw out Rosie Odonell as some one who MIGHT make this team better as apposed to Cousins.

Now that we got that out of the way. The point isnt to find some one who MIGHT be able to keep us where we are and possibly could make us better.

If we are seriously going to walk away from the best QB we have had in town in 15 or more years, the guy we install has to be hands down better. Not maybe better. Not could possibly become better. He better be 100% barring injury or kidnapping by aliens Better than Cousins is NOW.

Otherwise its a crap shoot that stands just as good a chance of setting us back, and likely more of a chance of setting us back.

So yea Sty... until you come up with a better than maybe option who is actually available... it SHOULD be Kirk. A Reasonable Alternative SHOULD be some one who you KNOW will make the team better, not some one you HOPE can at least keep us at the level where we are right now, and MIGHT be better if we get really lucky.

Man, I think you and Sty have valid points. AJ McCarron "could" thrive in this offense and win immediately but saying he is an improvement - ??? I dunno, I respect your points Sty, because they may sound outlandish but they are well thought out and you're ready to back them up

Then Shark makes a good point saying, is it worth letting a guy who probably has another level, walk just to save 10mil? And then replace him with, another Colt McCoy at best?

I'm somewhat torn because both sides make valid arguments -- what would we do if Colt was a free agent and Kirk tore his ACL?

Wow, Sty based on the OP's hypothetical theme and your plans -- I'd give it a shot, it may cost me my job, but the next head coach would be set on defense. Are you willing to share your draft and FA targets.
I'm slightly surprised at folks basically writing off any other option then Cousins to lead this team, LOL.
Folks already know how I feel about Cousins

Took a moment to look at some free agents and here is my preliminary list. Keep in mind that I'm not targeting all of them, but listing them in the event that my top choices can't be bought in (top choices will be denoted with this **)

Kirk Cousins** (QB-WAS) Gotta keep Kirk, but if he prices himself out of our working budget, I'm prepared to move on.

Eric Berry**(S-KC) My #1 pickup goal, I'm pulling out all stops to get him, if he's available.

Jordan Cameron (TE-MIA) Liked this guy at USC and will need to be prepared if we decide to pass on resigning V. Davis. Can't trust Paul to remain healthy.

Malcolm Smith**(ILB-OAK) Definitely fill a need for us and this guy has something that we truly lack at the
position....speed!

Dontari Poe DT (KC)** We need to totally revamp out front line guys, 'nuff said.

Ron Leary G (Dall) ** I might have to pay a few extra bucks for him, but after Berry he's #2 on my list.

Cordarrelle Patterson WR (Minn) Big flashy wideout with a bunch of upside, If I get him he'll live in front of the jugs machine until his hands bleed. (catches the ball too often with his body)

Terrelle Pryor WR (CLE) There a lot of upside left with this guy, could help us a bunch. Gonna cost to get him though.

Bennie Logan DT (PHI)** another top priority for me, again needing complete overhaul, 'nuff said.

Alex Okafor OLB (ARI)

The following guys I would be interested in for the right price (some have notes attached with my thoughts on them)

Justin Gilbert CB (Pitt)

Stephon Gilmore CB (Buff)

D.J. Hayden CB (OAK)

Chandler Jones OLB(ARI) will take a real look at this guy.

D.J. Swearinger SS (ARI) I wanted to draft him then, time to correct that mistake.

Le'Veon Bell** RB (Pitt) NOT a chance in hell that we get him but I'd make it known that I'm interested if possible.

Matt Barkley QB (CHI) We have to upgrade at QB (This is a move to upgrade the BU spot)

Chris Chester G..........NAW just f'ing with you to see if you were paying attention:pound:

I don't believe that we will have to worry about this because I think that Kirk gets that LTD.
I went into the "move on from Kirk mode" a year ago because the differences between the two sides was so great and unless there is something that causes the organization to get off of their previous position, I can't see anything but a repeat of that this time around. Hope I'm wrong, but despite what the totally untrustworthy Bruce Allen says, and differing reports coming out about the 'Non exclusive tag' that old feeling is creeping in again.

Out of that list, I'd take Barkley and/or McGloin as upgrades over Colt. Still draft a QB in the 2nd or likely third round. Sold?

There's a list of little recognized ten free agents that will get paid this year that I did not include on my list but should have. I decided not to do so mainly because much like the LeVeon Bell entry, there is ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE any of them are not resigned to their respective teams.

Sure if the plan is to upgrade the backup.. you got my vote. As a replacement starter... not so much.

Gentleman, serious question here.

Assume we just dealt Kirk. We got the number #2 from the niners as some fans are hoping.

Deep down, do you really believe we wont turn right around and draft a QB in the first round of this up coming draft?? Forget weather or not we think any of them are actually worth a first rounder.

Do we really think dealing Kirk will NOT lead directly to us drafting a QB in the first round, no later than the 2nd round of this draft??

I guess Im asking if you think we would honestly forgo QB in the top three picks in this case despite it being a considered very poor QB class.

NOPE! I wouldn't , told you all what I'd do even if we got a boatload of other picks instead of the 2018 1st instead.

I didnt ask if YOU would pick a QB. I ask if you really think we WOULDNT turn around and draft either Watson, Kizer or Trubisky. Or at minimum draft a QB in the second round.

My mistake.........Probably at 17, but not with that second. I've got a feeling that IF (monumental IF) things play out that way, they already have another plan in place to go get someone else via trade, possibly, a likely free agent ( I don't like that option )

As I think about it now, that #17 could be dealt to NE for Jimmy G. Scott's a good evaluator of talent, and in all likely hood sees this draft as a pretty weak one for QB's. So if I'm allowed, I'm changing my "probably at 17" to a definite NO.

I could see that. But I will point out that if we are desperate (and in this case we would be), the Pats might want more than JUST the #17 pick.

And if we are going to take a QB in this draft... IM thinking 17 will be too late. With the Jets at 6, the Bills at 10 and the Browns at 12. Unless the Bills keep Taylor. Also cant discount the Bears at #3 from taking a QB.

And the real kicker is Danny's penchant for showing off his toys at the draft party. Got to think he wants a cool new QB to show off if we move away from Cousins.
