Which is completely possible

Who's the 4th team in?

Seems certain UGA and Michigan are in regardless and OSU would seem to be a lock too

But the 4th spot is interesting

1 loss TCU, 2 loss Tennessee, 2 loss Bama...

Who you got?

If that scenario were to play out I think they would sneak Bama back in there. TCU is not losing to KState though.

In my opinion, it should be TCU or Clemson (assuming Clemson wins the ACC title game)

They won't get cute. If TCU and USC losses, then Bama and OSU get in.

Now if only Michigan loses (won't happen) I think Bama (6) gets in over MICH/OSU.

Georgia is in regardless.

I now think conference championship games are unnecessary...especially this season. All it does is create potential disaster for teams that have already proven themselves. All five power conference teams have an outright regular season championship...

ACC--Clemson (10-2, 8-0)
Big Ten--Michigan (12-0, 9-0)
Big XII--TCU (12-0, 9-0)
Pac-12--USC (11-1, 8-1)
SEC--Georgia (12-0, 8-0)

I will say this. I'd be in favor of a play-in game if two teams that finished tied for 1st but didn't face each other during the regular season. For example, had Oregon defeated Oregon St you could have USC (11-1, 8-1) vs Oregon (10-2, 8-1) in a championship game. That'd be a legit reason for a CCG.

Purdue (8-4) gets to play for the Big Ten title. That's beyond ridiculous. Michigan shouldn't have to play that game...but, we all know what the bottom line is...$$$

These CCGs are very anti-climactic.

ACC--Clemson (10-2) vs North Carolina (9-3)
Big Ten--Michigan (12-0) vs Purdue (8-4)
Big XII--TCU (12-0) vs Kansas St (9-3)
Pac-12--USC (11-1) vs Utah (9-3)
SEC--Georgia (12-0) vs LSU (9-3)

Would have been an interested B1G title if Illinois made it. Not to say Purdue can't surprise.

Sorry, no team that ever lost a game to South Carolina has ever gone on to play for a Natty.

Yep, that's why they were created in the first place, as a straight money grab. They're really not useful anymore in so many cases, just an opportunity for some team to step on its own dick

Kind of how it is in other sports, too, isn't it? Teams with lesser records in different divisions can make their playoffs over a team with the better record. Or, team with the better record may have to prove themselves again and beat a team they may have already beaten.

The CCG game can also create opportunity like it did for OSU in the first CFP (and guessing other teams since). Hell, it might end up helping out Clemson this year if they blew out UNC and maybe got a little help.

But, sure, not a perfect system.

I could see TCU still making it with a close loss. Logic would be they got their loss while OSU and/or Bama stayed home.

Not that logic always matters.

Bama in over 1 loss UM and OSU with their best win over a 4 loss team and potentially no team in the CFP? Guess their answer if asked could just be "it's Bama".

I'll take a 2-loss P5 conference champ over a 2-loss team that couldnt even win their division.

Over Bama? I'd consider it.

But I'd pick a losing USC or TCU over both as well.

But I know thats me being biased and sick of Clemson and Bama.

At the current rate, you may end up being sick of USC soon as well. 3-4 years of them knocking OSU out of the CCG and you'll be sick of them, too. So you better hope that I have been right this whole time about USC being overrated. Utah beating them would help, or Georgia trouncing them.

Well, in a season where the cfp is still consisting of only 4 teams, those CCGs could do the committee a favor by weeding out the weakest link among the P5 Conference leaders, whom most of us believe to be Clemson right now, I'm guessing, but Michigan almost lost to Illinois recently, TCU has had some close calls, even Georgia fans have had their moment of doubt. USC's only loss is to the team they have to play again.

It's a dumb and imperfect system, from a fan's perspective, but for college's whose football programs have to pay all the bills for all of their other college programs, CCGs make perfect $ense.

It's gonna be a whole different ballgame with 12 teams in the playoffs.

But I'd welcome a formal challenger like USC
