So if the Wild advance past the Avs, this suspension won't cost Matt Cooke one thin dime as far as salary is concerned.

He served game one of his suspension last night. If the Wild win two of the next three games against Colorado, they're guaranteed a minimum of four more games in the next round. That will eat up the rest of Cooke's suspension. Players aren't paid during the playoffs, thus no money will be taken from Cooke unless his suspension goes into regular season games next season.

Put Karlsson onthe top pairing instead of Tyutin and it gets even better.

I found this article:

espn.go.com

A couple of excerpts:

From Matt's comments to the press on Friday: "Since March 20, 2011, I've been a changed player. I've approached the game differently, I think differently about the game. The stats that I've collected over those three seasons proved that I'm a changed player. And the plays that I make and the plays that I don't make prove that point as well. At the end of the day, this situation was not my intent."

*****

"I don't know Cooke personally, but I'm sure he didn't go into the hit and think, 'I'm going to take this guy's MCL out,' " Avs captain Gabe Landeskog said. "But to some extent, you have to learn from your past experiences, and I feel like he's had enough experiences that he should be smarter and make smarter decisions."

*****

Sorry, Matt: I still have a problem with you coming from half-way down the rink to "finish a check" on someone who's long since passed the puck on to a teammate.

It is just mindboggling to me that he won't lose a penny.

Absolutely disgusting.

Players like him just create more risk than they are worth. I can't wait for the day when they are evolved out of the game.

It's why Neal drives me nuts. He doesn't need to do that crap - he has some skill, and the Penguins don't need that in their game.

Same with Boll. And Clutterbuck. Dorsett. Carcillo. The list goes on. And that kind of crap just plain sucks.
