Its amazing how places like "happy valley" routinely pull 100k ppl into the stadium............INSANE more seats than the pros, and sold out

Then you have a team, like my team, PITT. Playing in an NFL stadium, and pulling 30k in sales with 20k showing up, place barely half full..............

disheartening:noidea:

You'll fit right in in the ACC.

Large cities have a much more difficult time selling out for college football. The pros generally can outdraw them and there is a great deal more to do in larger metro areas.

Everyplace that sells out for college football is in small towns or lacks other sports as competitors.

Many people use the excuse of poor college sports following by stating "this is a pro sports town".

Not true everywhere...take a look at Detroit...the Metro Detroit area has been called the greatest sports town in America by many people over the years because of the massive support for the four major pro leagues plus college sports.

Remember, Ann Arbor is only approx a 25 minute drive from Detroit. The Metro Detroit area (Wayne, Oakland, Macomb Counties) has a population of approx 4.1 million...add in Washtenaw County too (Ann Arbor's county), and now you're looking at approx 4.5 million. This area is sports crazed, and obviously can support massive fanbases for all four major pro leagues plus college football & basketball.

I see one issue. Miami's high and opponent were an away game. Not sure if the averages are accurate.

In some ways it makes no sense though because Pitt's student section is usually packed. It is the ready of the place that is empty. I used to go down and get great seats for $10. It was fun because I love football but the vibe was weird.

in the last 20 years, Pitt has been below .500 nine times, and at .500 one time.
they lost 7 games last year, and 7 games the year before.
what, exactly, would be the attraction to Pitt football??

Pittsburgh Yearly Totals

You should check USCe's history on the field and compare it to their attendance. Mind boggling. They stunk it up for 100 years and still sold out their games. Well, as of around the Lou Holtz era to present anyway.
