Small college football fan bases

Many people use the excuse of poor college sports following by stating "this is a pro sports town".

Not true everywhere...take a look at Detroit...the Metro Detroit area has been called the greatest sports town in America by many people over the years because of the massive support for the four major pro leagues plus college sports.

Remember, Ann Arbor is only approx a 25 minute drive from Detroit. The Metro Detroit area (Wayne, Oakland, Macomb Counties) has a population of approx 4.1 million...add in Washtenaw County too (Ann Arbor's county), and now you're looking at approx 4.5 million. This area is sports crazed, and obviously can support massive fanbases for all four major pro leagues plus college football & basketball.

You've given me one example. What college teams draw in NYC, Boston, Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston, Pittsburgh, San Antonio, Los Angeles, St Louis, San Francisco. It's nothing compared to the pro teams.

Oops, forgot Miami.
