Funny, I don't recall Varlamov getting suspended when he was charged. I wonder what has changed in the intervening months to cause the league to act a little more proactively...
Even with this bad news, NHL players are still generally much better behaved in their personal lives than NFL, NBA and MLB players are.
And the last two big domestic violence cases in the NHL have been against Russians. What's up with that?

Suspended NHL players count against the salary cap. The #LAKings now have less than $500,000 in free space with six active defencemen.
Better hope that a defenseman doesn't get hurt or get ready for Doughty to play 40 minutes a night.
This post has the Don Cherry seal of approval.
Can't imagine the Kings are thrilled with this - I wonder if they try to dump him especially if it is true with what happened - it's not the Kings fault that some guy acted like a douchenozzle

Wasn't it Voynov who made accusations about Quick during the Olympics? Seemed like a jerk move to accuse a teammate like that. Now, he looks even more like a jerk.

Yeah, he accused Quick of knocking the net off the pegs deliberately at the Olympics.
I can't imagine how they'd dump him. If he's found guilty, no one will want him. They can't amnesty buy him out, so they are stuck. Salary dump coming soon, and not him. Tough spot for the team, but them's the breaks.
All the more incentive for them to try and get the charges dropped. I wonder if she was Russian and it will be as easy as threatening deportation like Varly situation.
You can be a jerk and be right. And he wasn't wrong. Quick did kick the post off. And what he said was that Quick "practices" that. I don't think he specifically said that Quick did it at the Olympics.
Even though he obviously did.
