This is either going to be a battle between two sub par teams or a coming out party for Griffin and his receivers. I'm expecting a painfully hard to watch game & hoping for the latter.

Redskins 20 Jaguars 17

Griffin 200 yards 1 TD
Morris 75 yards 1 TD
Garcon 75 yards
Jackson 75 yards 1 TD
Roberts 25 yards
Paul 25 yards
Forbath 2 of 2
Defense 1 sack 1 INT 1 fumble

Henne 200 yards 1 TD 1 INT
Gerhart 50 yards 1 TD
Shorts 50 yards
Lee 50 yards
Robinson 50 yards
Lewis 50 yards 1 TD
Scobee 1 of 1
Defense 3 sacks

Excerpt:

John, it seems to be open season on RG III. CBS’ Brandon Tierney called him a mental midget, Fox’s Terry Bradshaw said that he’s not ready to play pocket football and Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller said that he’s not well liked in the locker room. Why is Griffin so polarizing and do you think he’s the right QB for this team?

Keim: I’ve been in the locker room with him for three years, and to say that he’s that disliked is just not accurate. That said, I have yet to see anyone who’s universally beloved in my 20 years covering the Redskins -- even Darrell Green had his detractors -- so, yes, there have been some grumbles and some who haven’t liked Griffin. Also, to say he’s a mental midget is beyond ridiculous. Say what you want about his game, but he’s a smart person. It’s hard for me to say why others view him a certain way or why he’s polarizing to others so I can only guess. So my guess would be that it stems from being all over the place before he had really accomplished anything in the NFL (Russell Wilson was all over the place this past offseason; he has a ring). Then Griffin was viewed a certain way because of the issues with his coaches; that never looks good, regardless of who’s at fault. And then add to it the fact he’s struggling and people wonder where his game is headed. Or that some viewed him as a gimmick two years ago. I don’t know. I’m sure there are other reasons. Winning and playing well changes minds and perception. That’s what he must do. Is he the right QB? Well, he needs to be and I think this season will reveal that answer. For one year he absolutely was; last year he struggled. This year he’s transitioning more to the pocket -- and it will take time. I’ve used the words "growing pains" several times because that’s what he’ll endure. It’s tough to make that transition, and I still think they need to use his legs a little more. But I’m not sure they trust him to always protect himself.

5. Washington's offensive line looked subpar against the Texans. What do you think they'll do differently against a Jaguars defensive line that put up five sacks in the first half alone last week?

I doubt they will do anything differently which is a huge problem for this team. You would expect them to have a better plan to deal with a pass rusher like J.J. Watt to at least slow him down by double teaming him, but that’s easier said than done. Watt ended up with 1 sack, 5 QB hits, and 4 QB hurries Sunday. I don’t expect any personnel changes on the line, and there haven’t been any reported injuries, so the Jaguars can look at what the Texans were able to do against them and smile.

The Redskins have 4 of the same starters they had from last year, only adding Shawn Lauvao at LG and shifting LG Kory Lichtensteiger over to center. Gruden is at least a year away from having the kind of OL he wants to run his kind of offense. Everyone to the right of Trent Williams has been dubbed Tyler and the Turnstiles by the fans for the last few years, and it looks like they’re back for an encore this season. They drafted OT Morgan Moses and OG Spencer Long in the third round this year, and everyone is hoping they develop quickly to replace some of the overpaid and underperforming veterans on the line.

The Redskins need to run the ball effectively and consistently to play to their strengths, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a designed run or two from RGIII this week. The Texans spied him all game, which will probably be a running theme this year, so they need to take advantage of that. Losing Jordan Reed hurts their options over the middle, so someone’s got to step up to be Griffin’s safety net.

First off, I would hope they aren't referring to his actual intelligence when referring to him as a "mental midget." If they were, they are wrong. I would assume they are referring to his football IQ.

I don't care if he protects himself or not at this point...he needs to run. If it ends his career, fine...because he is ending his own career by not running.

Don't know the context of the comment. And I agree, if they are referring to his intelligence, they are dead wrong.

If you agree, then you get the context. No hidden meaning.

RG3 is an intelligent young man. His football IQ I do question.

Not necessarily. This comment has been quoted without the rest of the sentence. How do I know what he is meaning when he call Griff a mental midget? People can be smart about some things, and absurd in others.

Possibly making a statement about the smarts to become a pocket passer. That's the way the article infers it at least. Without context I have no clue what he meant.
