Strangest thing to me about all this was why Jay refused to comment on Colts injury yesterday, saying he wasn't revealing that until today when teams are required to list the injury report.Whew!!!! Finally a bit of good fortune.

Led to all sorts of unneeded speculation. I have a theory that the reason Colts minor foot cut injury leaked out late yesterday was a result of the QB2 speculation for the Eagles game.
I thought it might have been sort of a feeler move too. He could have deflected all of the speculation by giving any number of other reasons why Colt was not practicing.
Injury reports aren't due until Wednesday. Media noticed Colt not practicing. Jay isn't very articulate at times.
Feeler move for what exactly? The only opinions that matter are in the front office and that won't be changed by the media speculation angle that resulted.
I think it was simply a poorly thought out statement by him myself.
I'm absolutely positive he's on a short leash. And his comments do reveal that he often seems out of his depth. Of course this is also expected with a young first time head coach with a losing franchise and patience needs to prevail. Can't say that I disagree with you, however, sometimes those slip ups reveal more than what is publicly known. It would not surprise me that Gruden suffers from short leash syndrome. So far, we saw it a season ago at QB and there's an inkling of the same at RB this year.
