Carew > Rose
Gwynn > Rose

Carew and Gwynn both stole some bases in their career...

Never heard that before? You must have never talked about Pete Rose before...

yeah, he "compiled" hits, heck in 15 years he was already over 3000, lead the league in batting 3 times and an MVP. Carew took 19 years just to get to 3000 and Gwynn 20 years, both HUNG on 4 extra years, just to "compile" 3000 hits.

If rose didn't gamble, he would have been a 1st ballet HOF and STILL picked in this draft.

Nobody argues that he would have been a first ballot HOF... there is just a difference between best career and best player... There are players like Rose who had a great career, but was never actually a great player... Only consistently VERY GOOD...

Again, for a NON power hitter, i think the most important stat is OBP, and he was ONLY very good, NOT GREAT!!!
and he had moderate speed at best, so he really wasn't even an elite NON power hitter... I would take MANY NON power hitters over him...

He wouldn't have been picked by me... I honestly think if he was a HOF he would NOT have been picked in this.

3 Batting titles, impressive indeed as are 8 for Gwynn and 7 for Rodney Cline.

Gwynn and Carew were both known and called the best hitters in the game in their careers Rose was never called the best hitter in the game.

If you take Rose's top FIFTEEN! seasons, his average was .320. For 15 freaking years. Good grief, compile my ass

Here's the thing... I still got 6 HOFers. Rose isn't stacked against the other HOFers. It's him vs the first non HOF position players. And the only guy that can even come close is Raines

Rose played 3b, he would have been a shoe in HOF draft pick in this draft, do you actually know how many 3b are in the HOF? what Paul Molitor is better, lol. He played over 500 games in 5 different positions at the MLB level, find anyone in the HOF that could do that. One of the best switch hitting hitters ever in the game. .321 hitter in the post season.

You guys are freakin drunk on the Rose hate through the years, errrr Rose's OBP was much higher than Raines

I found plenty of Mag covers that didn't have your reason for talking the guy down.
