Our team has, as of this moment 6 draft selections, barring trade downs, should they draft a QB? If so, in which round? Here's a list of our selections.

  • Round One: Own Pick (No. 2)

  • Round Two: None

  • Round Three: Own Pick

  • Round Four: Own Pick

  • Round Five: Own Pick

  • Round Six: None

  • Round Seven: Own Pick

  • Round Seven: Via Denver Broncos

It completely depends on who is available in what round.

If Jake Fromm there in round four, you take him.

Jalen Hurts in round 4 or five, same thing.

No QB at all. We already have two young QB's on the roster. Why draft one this year?

Notta, we have Haskins, Allen & Smith. Can wait until next year. Our draft picks with few so many are too valuable this year.

If Fromm or Hurts are there in the 4th, it would be wise to take them. They are worthy of the pick.

Why? If Haskins does well we are fine. If Haskins fails we have Allen. We already traded a 5th round pick for a QB who already knows the system. Why would we then select another QB in the 4th? With our 3rd and two 4th round picks it should be OT,WR, and TE in any order.

From my perspective (even though you guys know your shit), no point in wasting even a 4th on a QB. Why?

You drafted a QB in the 1st last year.
You traded for a young suitable backup this offseason.
You still have a veteran QB on the team that can help the young guys.

No point in adding a 4th when you can build valuable depth and who knows you could hit a gem in the 4th at a key position, which is very unlikely to happen from Fromm or Hurts.

If Haskins looks bad and Allen doesn't seem like a guy that fits the mold...you will have a top pick next year. Trevor Lawrence is there, that's when you pull the trigger. He will be compared to Andrew Luck imo.

I think you do pick a qb if he is the best player on the board in round 4

smith will not be ready to play this year so you have 2 qbs on the roster but you will need some camp arms

Because it is the fourth round. I am not looking for a starting QBS in the fourth. I am looking for a bargain to develop and trade or a backup that learns and challenges.

You aren’t looking for year one starters at all in the fourth. You would love them To be starters but that isn’t the exp3ctation.

Fromm and Hurts are second or third round prospects. If they are there in the fourth or fifth, you take them. Hell, Fromm at one point was going to be #1 overall.

It is t wasting a,pick. It is investing in a player to yield a gain.

That fourth round pick could be a starter next year. I don't think we go QB at all no matter who is there.

This - except if there's a QB available that's dramatically better than anyone else when we pick in the 6th or 7th round.

How is gaining another backup QB a valuable gain? You could legimately have 2 already on the team (even though I think Haskins can be a nice player in 2-3 years). Like I said you could get lucky but not very likely with QB in this draft. You have more of a chance to get a LB, S, CB, etc. in the 4th that is 2-3 round gem prospect. Not to mention this QB class isn't very deep.

If you are talking 6th or 7th round...sure why not. Take a QB

It depends on the board . We have only 2 qbs who will be ready for TC .

so 4th round on is possible but it depends on rankings

Eight years ago the Redskins traded a crap load of picks to draft a QB #2 overall. Two rounds later they drafted a QB in the 4th round. Most here said "why did they waste a pick in the 4th round. :noidea: If you like and believe in a guy you make the pick. Maybe his a career backup and maybe he ranked in the top 100 QBs all time. :D

Feel free to look at the odds of success in a fourth round pick. Then get back to me.

From there, notice I gave you two names. The likelihood of either being there in the fourth or fifth is minimal.

So, to answer your actual question, please look at Jimmy Garopollo. You can also look at Kirk Cousins. You can look at Drew Brees. All of these players were traded, led to a trade, or took over. The teams that drafted them didn’t need them but they saw value at the pick.

I like that pick with the idea that we might be able to trade that 4th round dude for a 1st in a few years. Crazy thing is - that could have happened.

The FO could not have screwed the Cousins situation more than they did.

Not sure if I remember this right or even if it is right but I thought I heard San Fran offered a 1st for him but it wasn't done because of the animosity towards Kyle Shanahan.
