I think the timing is just right. They’ve extended the draft into a whole weekend.
Also needs to be on Sunday 7 and 8 with with 5 and 6 on Saturday,3 and 4 on Friday and 1 and 2 on Thursday. Also follow NHL Teams come up to announce pick and GM's live to talk Trades and right at start of NFL Offseason. I know on ABC but Fox and so on to with their crews Charlie Davis on CBS coverage and Joel Platt on Fox's and somebody could hirer Mike Mahlock.

So whose perspective are you looking for?

The teams might use the time, or they might not. As mentioned several times, an ill-prepared team deserves what they get.

The networks and advertisers might have different views. 30 minute picks are going to make rounds take forever. After the first few picks, advertisers will see how much viewership drops and how many sports fans get up and do laundry. Remember, it's going to be the shit teams getting those first round early picks. Nobody's going to sit through 16 hours of one full round.

And then there's the fans. Who's going to sit through that? A couple of picks and I can grill up brats and beans or skewers of beef, serve dinner and serve 6 people. I could watch Gone with the Wind. It's good background noise in a bar, I suppose. (Or is it? I was at a bar where one of the bartender's cousins was a projected first rounder. He ended up as a mid- to late pick. Not much excitement.)

For me? I'll look at the list online a few days later. I don't need the hype that the coverage will become.
