“Obviously the situation with the Patriots, they are starting out with a lot of new guys,” Owens told The Boston Globe. “You never know how management is thinking, what their process is as far as bringing in veterans.”
Owens, who last played for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010 (72 catches and nine touchdowns), is well aware of his age, which is likely a sticking point for many teams,. H’es also aware of the history of off-field issues and drama that followed him in San Francisco, Philadelphia and Dallas, although, he doesn’t see any of it as a cause for concern.
“I understand they may look at my age as an issue but I’m not your average 39-year-old,” Owens said. ”I think if you watch me work out, I’m not really concerned about injuries or anything like that. Plus, I’ll be getting paid the vet minimum, so it’s not like I am asking for any extra incentive in my contract.

“I know that there’s some character issues that teams are worried about that’s understandably noted, but I am a different person than I was 10 years ago.”

“Tom Brady has a lot of young guys and I’m sure he could use some veteran help and I would love to play for a guy like Bill Belichick and play with a quarterback like Tom,” Owens told the Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn. “They are going to try to win by [receiving] committee.
“Coach Belichick is a smart guy that has won with not necessarily a main receiver. Aside from when Randy [Moss] played there, they’ve really had a lot of guys to produce as a committee. That’s where I could possibly fit in. There’s a lot of teams I know that I could play for.”

T.O. needs to find a life outside of football and the spotlight. Just go away and let us enjoy what we have in the game. The Patriot problems have more to do with not having their T.E. and the chemistry for the others is a work in progress. They are still 2-0 and things will work out fine, imo. They don't need this idiot stirring the pot.

As a Bills fan I think it would be a wonderful idea for the Pats to sign TO.

On the field, he doesn't add much IMO. But I like what he is saying. For all his "troubles" I have always respected TO as a receiver and a hard worker. I do think he had a great understanding of the game, and as a mentor maybe he does help out. He would need to understand that he won't get the reps with Brady the young guys will (and that his on the field role would be likely to reduce to possibly near nothing if he does his job well), and it sounds like he understands that.

I know earlier and in other topics I have shied from the idea, but he sounds like he may be worth a try out to see what kind of shape he is in.

Again, bit role. I think he partly just wants to be part of a Super Bowl team and sounds willing to accept that.

Only if they sign Tebow too... That is the only way it will work. Tebow lining up at TE, and T.O. on the far right side.... oooooohhhhh... dangerous!

I was under the impression that the Patriots are a top of the class institution, who don't sign players that exhibit problems off the field, and who are prone to create drama and problems in the locker room? :noidea:

But yeah, sure, I say sign him. I want to see Brady lose his shit on the sidelines over him and then see TO crying that he's his QB.

Imagine all of the fun we could have with memes because of his emotional attachment to Tom Brady to prove he's not a cancer in the locker room.

whats the worse that could happen you cut him? woooooo........

he'll play for 500k. he wants to play again and for a ring, he probably bust his balls here. prime TO would show up just like Moss. not siging him with our current wr situation is borderline insane asylum territory. bb needs to check his ego at the door and make the team better.

He won't be like Moss but he will certainly be an upgrade over what y'all have.

He would never be more than the third guy without more injuries.

Hell no. He had another chance with the Seahawks and failed miserably. He's only gotten older since then. I would never sign him for any reason.

As a Seahawks fan I can state that he got wide open on some deep balls during the preseason and dropped them, every single time...

His athletic condition is not what is keeping him out of the NFL, he reportedly ran a 4.3 and is still in great shape.

His problem are the drops and his big mouth. If he could hang on to the football and keep his mouth shut I think he never would have stopped playing.

That's what I'm talking about, the drops. I watched him in preseason and he couldn't catch a damn thing. There is no reason to put up with his diva attitude when he isn't reliable as a reciever.

No, the Pats only sign people with murderous tendencies or cheaters.
