I think the all star game sucks so I don't really care either way. I get that they want fans of each team to have a reason to care but most of those players who are representing a bad team are either on the bench or in the BP with a 50/50 shot at getting into the game, as a Padres fan I'm not gonna watch on the possibility that maybe Brad Hand pitches an inning. At least they stopped letting this exhibition determine who gets home field advantage in the WS.

It's a game for the fans, by the fans. If some marginal All-Star gets left off the ballot so they can get a guy from every team to appease the fans, I really don't care.

No he isn't. It's a fucking exhibition game. It gives the fan bases small market teams, that only get in the playoffs every 15 years, an opportunity to see their favorite players on a big stage. That's always been the purpose of the All Star game. It's not about the best players of the five best teams in the NL going against the best players of the five best teams in the AL.

There are always going to be perceived snubs when the rosters are limited to 28 players but that is no excuse to leave certain franchises unrepresented when the game means absolutely nothing.
