at least give Peterson props for playing against top WRs that Sherman didn't play against this season.

the WRs that Peterson's team went up against in the Pro Bowl:
WR Josh Gordon (1,646 yds receiving this season) -- Sherman didn't even face him this season
WR Alshon Jeffery (1,421 yds receiving this season) -- Sherman didn't even face him this season
WR Brandon Marshall (1,295 yds receiving this season) -- Sherman didn't even face him this season
WR Larry Fitzgerald (954 yds receiving this season)

No, I won't because it was the Pro Bowl :L

Exactly. Preseason and pro bowl numbers don't count toward your career numbers for a reason. :L
It's like arguing MJ > Lebron because Jordan made more shots in those old McDonald's commercials

About 10 million watched the Pro Bowl yesterday. It had more viewers that all but 5 regular season college football games this season (SEC CG, B1G CG, Iron Bowl, LSU-Bama, aTm-Bama)

And about 9,999,999 of those people understand that arguing statistics from the Pro Bowl is laughable

The people who watched the Pro Bowl saw PP put on a show. Esp since the TV announcers went on two long rants about how great PP is, calling him the Deion Sanders of our generation, etc. It was some Prime Time publicity for PP. Like the ESPN article I quoted above said:
"Patrick Peterson puts on show at Pro Bowl...Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson put on a Prime Time-esque performance in Sunday's Pro Bowl... He allowed just one completion for a yard (and the QBs threw for a combined 493 passing yards)...He had an interception (picked off a pass intended for Chicago's Brandon Marshall), two passes defended and a tackle. ... Peterson is becoming the current-day (Deion) Sanders."

Yes... he put on a show. That's the key... A SHOW. :L

Bring up his stats for the season and use those all you want. He had an outstanding season and nothing should take away from that, but stop using exhibition stats as something meaningful especially when you are trying to use it to compare him to someone who wasn't in that game. If the Saints had beaten Seattle then Sherman would have been in that game. Given that there were 6 picks in that game as it was, how many would Sherm have had? What would his stats have been? Who knows.

Patrick Peterson Prime Time In Pro Bowl

Deion Sanders made sure to draft the player who is closest to his modern-day equivalent. The Hall of Fame cornerback made Patrick Peterson the first defensive player selected in the Pro Bowl draft, and the protégé made some primetime plays. Peterson, the Cardinals’ third-year cornerback who gets plenty of comparisons to Sanders for his high-end talent and versatility, had a banner day in his third Pro Bowl appearance. He broke up a potential touchdown pass intended for Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery early in the second quarter, then intercepted Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers a few minutes later.
Peterson wears No. 21 like Sanders, and paid homage following the pick by performing Sanders’ signature celebration dance.
“Twenty-one reasons!” Sanders yelled to Peterson following the interception: “They know they can’t try you, baby! They can’t try you like that.”

team that won the Pro Bowl won $27,000 per player. teammates were going after teammate like brother on brother civil war stuff (most notably Derrick Johnson's hit on teammate Jamaal Charles and T.J. Ward's hit on teammate Josh Gordon). there were a lot of great plays.

One could just as easily convince themselves that every Sherman INT they saw was because the receiver kind of gave up and anybody who says otherwise didn't watch. A lot of people were saying Crabtree messed up by not stopping and going up for the ball Sherman got his hand on at the end of the NFC CG

??? The Pro Bowl QBs threw for a combined 493 passing yards Of that, only 1 yard was given up by Patrick Peterson. Trying to denigrate Peterson's Pro Bowl performance just makes you come across as a petty and insecure fan of Sherman who can't take any other CB sharing any limelight

Just because I pointed out that PP just put on a prime time performance Sunday at the Pro Bowl doesn't mean I would give him a trophy for CB of the Year for 2013. I would give that to Sherman (He was #1 in the NFL with 8 INTs, made some spectacular plays, and is one of the star players of the best defense in the country.)

I do agree with the two CBs who were named first team All-Pro for 2013: Sherman and Peterson.

And I do agree with the PPF guy above that you can't compare Peterson and Sherman because Peterson has the much tougher job of shadowing the other team's #1, while Sherman just covers whatever WR comes on his side (the other team's #2 at least half the time). And I agree with the footballoutsiders guy above who said Sherman has a lot more help in the SEA secondary (1st Team All Pro Thomas and 2nd Team All-Pro Chancellor). But Sherman's ballhawk skills are off the charts. But PP can play multiple positions and is so versatile. But Sherman is 2 inches taller. But PP has 25 more lbs of muscle. Etc etc. They are both great.

And didn't I say that 2 pages ago? Not just those two either. This nonsense over who is the #1 is so subjective because of the differences in what each team does with their secondary so who freaking cares? I'm not sure there is anything Sherman could have done better this whole season in what the team asked him to do. That's all I can ask for. I'm not expert on Peterson, but I'm sure his fans would say the same.

wrong

What is all of this obsession over questioning who the best is at any one position? I couldn't care less what any stats, pundits, or fans of other teams say. What matters is how do the players you have do at what they are asked to do. That's it and nothing more. Sherman is a total shut down corner that forces QB's to stay away from his side of the field if he is in man coverage and when they do try him he makes them pay for it. That's all I need out of him. Same thing with Earl and Kam. They do exactly what we ask of them and are a big part of Seattle going 15-3 (14-4 in many parallel universes) so far this year.

Keep on making lists that put Sherman somewhere other than number one and please make sure he sees them. I'm not sure if he ever gets the credit he thinks he deserves if he ends up dropping the chip that had driven him to where he is now. I want him feeling disrespected and hope that never changes.

Anything that could ever happen, happens in some parallel universe (Many Worlds Theory)

there are BILLIONS of parallel universes where the 49ers beat the Seahawks 10 days ago in the NFC Championship game and in went on to win Super Bowl 48.

Heck in some of those parallel universes where the 49ers beat the seahawks in the nfc championship game last week, the 49ers beat the seahawks 62-7

There are also many parallel universes where Seahawks won 8 games combined between the 2006 season and the 2016 season

If that's the case then I'm glad I reside in this universe.

But if you think about it, those alternate realities won't begin to exist until you make them. Like Einstein's theory of relativity, it is completely dependent on your perception of reality. With that being said, I was under the assumption that this was a football forum. Maybe you should spend less time here and get back to building that time machine and create yourself a reality where the niners are actually good
