Much better than Sanchez. A solid backup meant to be nothing more than a backup

Very solid signing. Fisher says they are looking at a veteran safety next. Chris Clemons?? Patrick Chung?? ED REED??? Probably Thomas DaCoud since Snead knows him from Atlanta. Also Champ Bailey is making a second visit to St Louis tomorrow... imagine the young guys being able to learn from Champ Bailey AND Ed Reed?? :omg:

Granted, Reed and Bailey will probably want more than a 1 year deal and want some jack, but maybe not.

I dont know if Bailey would be a good fit but Reed would be an excellent signing, imo. Bailey is also very respected so he'd almost be like another coach out there but Reed can still play at a 'good enough' level and is one of the best to ever play his position in terms of being a role model to the young guys in the secondary

Exactly... that is what I would be looking for from Reed or Bailey. Teach the secondary professional football with just the right amount of cocky SOB!!

Just remember that neither is likely to play a full season. You'd want one but probably not both

Ed Reed really struggled last year. Champ Bailey has never played safety.

Bailey might be an okay addition at CB. Reed struggled at Houston but played well-ish in New York. STL had the worst safety play in the league last year so anything will look like an upgrade

I wouldn't be opposed to bringing one of the two in but I'm not really sold on what they can do on the field anymore. Champ at CB is fine with me though.

Shaun Hill is definitely the right QB for our team at this time. IMO our best move so far outside of bringing back one of our own (Saffold).

I prefer Champ since he could be a CB/S backup.

I don't want Bailey or Reed as a player. Bring Reed in as a coach because both are too old. Granted Reed is better than a Giordano who is also old and slow but the Giordano experiment with his Superbowl ring didn't work out very well and he is gone. More of wasting time on used-up players unless you make Reed a coach.

Have to agree with you Retro. Champ Bailey looked like a damp piece of toast in the Super Bowl, and Ed Reed's best days are about 5 years behind him. Maybe Reed would be a good coach in some capacity. Bailey just needs to retire. I don't know why we would want to bring in these old broken down players at this point. Is it just for name's sake?

I think it would be more as a mentor/coach. I would not think that either would start or see large amounts of playing time. I mean Bailey as a nickel would not be bad. Hell even Reed playing CF once in a while would not be horrible. But these guys have both won and know HOW to take that next step and can lead this young defensive group...

Pass on Ed Reed and Champ Bailey. There are better players out there who can contribute more.

I think Quinn and Davis with some healthy competition could do a better job. Another used-up, old player that is going to come back and bite us.
