I read that the Wizards are trying to get rid of Andre Blatche. Dude has 4 years left on a contract that pays him $6.4 mil then $7.1 mil, $7.7 mil and $8.4 mil.

If you were in charge of Golden State's front office, would you trade Brandon Rush and Andris Biedrins for Blatche and Rony Turiaf?

I think Washington makes the deal because it gets them out of the Blatche contract and gets them an improved SG. They currently have Jordan Crawford there, and he is nothing more than a glorified shooter.

Golden State does it for the obvious reasons. Beans' contract is shorter and for $1.5 mil less in total value, but Blatche has talent and his deal is calls for a smaller annual value, giving the team more cap space in future years.

It also opens up the SG/SF for Thompson, which is an added bonus.

I would in a heartbeat, but why would the Wizards?

The Wizards have Nick Young starting at SG and Crawford is the backup. Rush would be a bit redundant for them, and he'll be a free agent at the end of the year. Not sure if they'd even make attempts to resign him. Turiaf's contract is done at the end of the year, so they really wouldn't be losing much, but I don't think they'd want to take on a center making 9M a year averaging 2 points and 3 rebounds a game. They have McGee who's a free agent, and they'll likely need to resign for at least 10M per. Not saying he's worth it, but that will be around his market value. The Wiz will have 19M+ locked up at the C position alone.

The Warriors would be a little redundant at the PF spot too with Blatche. He doesn't play any defense either, and him and Lee would make the worst paired defensive front court in the league. I'd still do the trade because of the overall upgrade in talent though. Biedrins is just terrible.

Exactly. There's no way they would take on Beans' contract. We should have amnestyed him instead of Bell. Classic Warriors fuckup.

Beans' contract is for less total value and ends one year sooner. Sure the AAV is higher for Beans, but not that much higher. Trading away Blatche gives them a relief from his antics as well. I am not saying it's a great deal by any stretch, but Blatche is a headcase and no one wants to take him and his long deal if he's going to be a pain in the ass.

If I were Golden State, I would take that chance.

If you're the type of person that would give yourself cancer just for the hell of it, then by all means, take Blatche. That's basically what the Warriors would be doing.

I know he has a ton of maturity issues, but he hasn't exactly been surrounded around a strong veteran presence. At this point I think a change of scenery could be just the thing for him. Even with all his issues, I think the Wizards could do better than Biedrins, if only because there aren't many options much worse.

Yeah, but the Warriors got Brandon Rush when they dealt Amundson, so I'll still take that trade. With Dorell Wright losing his shooting touch on a semi-regular basis, Rush has been a nice addition to the team.

Oh, I love Rush. It just blows mind that a below average big man bench player scores two points, and it's two points more than our starting center.

Biedrins only played 9 minutes tonight...which is nice.

Carl Spackler is the perfect mascot for this Warriors' squad: An exercise in futility until everything is blown up. (Nice win by the Dubs last night... if you're a Jazz fan)

After catching the Ws against the Wizards last night, I am convinced that Blatche needs to get the hell out of Washington - even if it's not to Golden State. That guy has talent, but no one there - not even the freaking fans - like him.

I have to admit, I was embarrassed for him when I saw 5-foot-9 Nate Robinson go up and over him for a rebound in the third quarter. That guy just cannot win.

For the record, I'd still take him over Biedrins right now.

Here's a quote from Blatche after the game.

"You're home and people that's supposed to have your back don't have your back. Instead of encouraging you to get better, they push you down and hope you do worse," Blatche said. "Every time I touch the ball, I'm second-guessing. I'm trying to avoid the boos. Trying to play a perfect game so I don't have to hear it so I can help my team win."

Wow. That's sad. No matter where he ends up, I hope the kid gets another chance.

He is an amazing athlete. He will definitely get another chance somewhere else. I hope he has learned to keep his head down, listen to his coach and improve the aspects of his game that those coaches suggest.

How about this trade:

Avi to the Wiz for Blatche and Turiaf?

We'd likely keep the first round pick, and next year:

C -- Udoh/Brown/Turiaf
PF -- Blatche/Tyler/#1 Pick
SF -- Wright/Rush/McGuire
SG -- Monta/Thompson
PG -- Curry/Jenkins

Trade scenario #2:

Avi and Monta to the Wiz; Blatche, Turiaf, Young, Vesely, McGee to the W's

C -- McGee/Turiaf/Tyler
PF -- Udoh/Blatche/Vesely
SF -- Wright/Rush/McGuire
SG -- Thompson/Young
PG -- Curry/Jenkins

I would absolutely hate both of those trades.

If you're going to move Lee, he has way more value than Blatche and an expiring. The Wizards couldn't even get Tyrus Thomas back for Blatche. If the Wizards threw in their 1st this year and/or another future pick, I'd do this.

Also, I think McGee is terrible. He's all world talent, but dumber than a box of rocks. We don't have a veteran presence to keep him in check or to show him how to mature. Same goes for Blatche. You're going to pay McGee alot in the off season or lose him.

Except that he doesn't. His contract is a fucking albatross and we'd be better simply dumping his contract for an expiring and a backup like Blatche.

Well if you're going that route of simply dumping David Lee on his own, a team like the Bobcats makes much more sense. They're desperate to add talent and they could give you back all expirings and would take Lee in a heartbeat. 7M a year for a backup like Blatche would be pretty pricey and 4M expiring doesn't do a whole lot for us.

Sjax for Blatche & Turiaf?

Wizards save money and Jax contract is up after next year. Rid themselves of a guy who gets booed nightly by the home crowd. Also could be a veteran presence to their immature squad.

Warriors get Blatche who could be a very serviceable back up big for the W's, and get 4M in cap relief with Turiaf's expiring.

This would be win-win for both squads.
