they have a thing called a protected ranking for players injured for a long period of time. but i believe it can't be used for seeding purposes, and only allows entry into tournaments without playing a qualifier.

I hear ya. I have an ex who used to work at Armani, she did the measurements and worked with Venus and Serena. Everyone there called Serena "The stinky Sister" because she would come right from a workout without showering. This is literally 20 years ago when Serena was still in her teens.
