Did you watch the game Kenny? If so, how did last year's QMJHL MVP Mike Hoffman look? I'm guessing he's Bingo bound for a year or 2 but any chance he sticks with the big club even if only for a few games?

Didn't catch it Julian. He was dominant in the rookie games, by all accounts.

I don't think he'll make the club this year but he'll be an NHLer in a year or two. Looks like a steal for the Sens. I think he'll end up being a Yannick Perrault type of player. A superstar at the junior level, but a good 2nd liner at the pro level. You probably know more about his game than I do, but I'm excited to see how good he can be.

Seems like all of a sudden the Sens have some really good young guys coming up through the ranks.

Hoffman, Butler, Daugavins all look like they have top 6 NHL potential. ON the back end there is Karlsson, Rundblad, Wiercioch, Cowen and Gryba. great depth on the blueline among the prospects.

Quoi had Blake Liveley's tits, but then he zoomed out (Boo!)
Don'tcha mean Blake's lively tits?

Oh, and Julian, I've been meaning to ask you...how did you come to be a Sharks fan living in New Brunswick?

Haha good question. I was originally a Hartford Whalers fan which some probably consider equally as random. My dad's a hardcore Habs fan and took me to a game in Montreal and for a short while they were my team but I decided I wanted to have my own team so I picked Hartford since nobody else I knew cheered for them and because I felt bad that they would lose to Boston or Montreal every year.

But I always kind of liked the Sharks ever since they came into the league. I thought they had pretty cool jerseys and all that. But their mini-run in 1994 was what really got me interested. First they eliminated the Red Wings which was great because my girlfriend at the time, one of my best friends, and my cousin were all huge Red Wings fans and were constantly gloating about how great they were. Then they almost eliminated the hated Leafs, who all of a sudden became the most popular team around here in the early 90s when they started winning. The only time in my life I ever got into a phyisical fight over a hockey game was when the Leafs eliminated the Sharks in 7 games. It was really just a wrestling match and supposedly just for fun but I was actually really pissed because of all his gloating even though up until the previous year he was always an Oilers/Kings fan (whoever Gretzky played for).

So they were kind of my Western Conference team but after the Whalers moved and changed their name, logo, uniform etc. I wasn't really a fan of the Hurricanes all that much. I didn't hate them but it wasn't the same. Eventually I decided the Sharks were my new team. Its too bad I didn't stick with the Whalers/Canes. At least my team would have 1 Cup. :(

That's pretty much what I was expecting. He is a pure goal scorer. Not a real big guy but don't really think he has to be in order to make it. I didn't know much about him until last year. He was unnoficially part of the trade that sent Chirs Didomenico to Drummondville but on paper he was traded for a draft pick which allowed them to keep both players for their Memorial Cup run. A lot of people around here didn't think we'd get to see him because he was turning 20 and eligible for both AHL and CHL. Most figured he'd end up with Binghamton last year but we got lucky that he got sent down. He was a lot of fun to watch and I agree that it appears to be a steal for the Sens as a 5th round pick. Not to mention it was his second year of eligibility so he was completely passed over for 11 rounds in total before the Sens finally picked him in the 12th. Then again nobody in the OHL wanted him either which is how he ended up in the Q despite being from Ontario. Some guys are just late bloomers I guess.

Haha yeah I tend to be long-winded sometimes. :D

I've had a pretty busy summer and even busier past few weeks but I'll likely be posting a bit more now, especially with the season starting up again.

He sure was. And I forgot to mention the Brass Bonanza as well, which Dash posted in the Connecticut Whale thread yesterday.

Also I meant to mention that the fact I'm the only Sharks fan that I know is what lead me to the swamp in the first place which of course is how I eventually ended up here. Since I'm surrounded mostly by Leafs, Habs, Bruins, and Wings fans I decided to go searching for fellow Sharks fans online.
