Guess that Weidl didn't learn anything from Decosta or Douglas.
At least they needed a LB.
On the Eagles website, they're hinting that they can now have 2 players who can throw the ball at the same time.
Woop de doo.
It's a luxury pick. There have been no QBs taken after Jalen Hurts.
I get that they need a cheap backup QB option because a veteran might cost a couple million and they have cap issues. He was slated as a mid-second to fourth round pick. Seems like they could have found a similar player with a later pick, but Hurts does have a nice pedigree from a winning program and likely would have been scooped up in the 3rd round.
I don't know.
It's a luxury pick.
Sounds like fans and the team are split on whether the team is good enough already to be spending draft capital on luxuries. They think they are.
I went straight to watching whatever film I could on Taylor, but just stumbled on to his workout stuff ... I had not realized that this kid ran a 4.49 at the Combine then a 4.39 at his Pro Day. He falls right in line with the hybrid Safety/LB type of player the Eagles covet. Really liking this pick and the Reagor pick ... I'm just going to pretend like we didn't have a 2nd round pick, that way it doesn't sap my happiness about our draft in general![]()
we need a backup, but i don't see how Hurts fits that bill. He's a one read and run QB. His comps are the eagles use him as a guy that was an UDFA (Hill) or Tim Tebow, a winner with intangibles, but a shitty QB.Speed was our number one need.
We also needed a backup QB, even if most of us would have rather not spent a 2nd round pick on one.
