From Russian Machine Never Breaks...

"Washington Capitals, just when I thought you couldn’t possibly break my heart any more, you go and do something like this… and totally redeem yourself! This is how the Caps beat the Penguins, then almost lost, then won off the stick of their worst player this postseason. This stupid, stupid team."

Pretty much sums it up.

Kudos to the Caps tonight. I don't think it was their best game of the series, but a team that had lost the first two games and that folded a 2-goal lead in the last two minutes could have easily collapsed and gone away tonight.

They didn't, they came out strong in the OT, and got the win.

The hit to Crosby was unfortunate. I don't think Niskanen had any malice in that hit and Crosby kind of falling down as he went into Nisky definitely didn't help. The penalty was deserved as it was careless. Hope he's okay.

I sat out in the alley behind PPG like my ticket told me to and I waited for the superstar treatment promised with my ticket. Alas, Max Talbot never showed up and brought me pizza and now fuzz told me to take off. I think I was duped. Hope I didn't miss anything.
Did you at least get some lettuce, untoasted Wonder Bread and a slice of gov't cheese?

I've seen this twice now just looking around my morning links so I'm just going to mention that if Niskanen gets suspended for that minor hit that unfortunately left the nut-whacker injured I'm done with the NHL.

Setting aside the over-the-top reaction to an injury to any player not named Matthews, Ovie did indeed play a role in what happened. It was Ovie's contact with Sid's head that caused Sid to change paths and lower his body, straight into Niskanen's stick. (but I am not saying either were worth more than a 2 minute minor).

FWIW, one angle seemed to show that Niskanen's stuck caught the side of Sid's head, closer to the jaw/neck area. As long as there is no spinal damage (unlikely), boy's gonna be pretty sore today but would not surprise me to see him out there for Game 4.

Yeah, it just looks like speculation based on his history. He didn't look like he had any facial damage or cuts, so its surely not a good sign he didn't come back in the game. But with concussion protocols now, it could be playing it safe too. I'm sure we'll hear more tomorrow.
I could have sworn the trainer was picking up a chicklet or 2 when he came to see Sid...
