Not comparing any player to Crabtree myself but DeMaryius Thomas tore his just before February 10th, 2011 (announce date), and was cleared to practice a few days before September 3rd (announce date).

What level of practice? Manningham is at practice now, is he "back". Did this Thomas cat make it back to play in an NFL game within a year?

That statement just blows me away. What Suggs does is more about lower body than upper body, and the same is true of every DL.

Suggs' injury was a partial tear, though, so he's not a great comparison point. I'm somewhat skeptical Crabtree will make it back this year, and if he does, he'll almost certainly be hampered.

I'm afraid he may try to come back too early and re-injure himself. I love Crabtree's game and I'd hate to see him go down again.

Thomas came back that year and played in 11 games. He only caught 32 balls, but it was his second season in the NFL and he had Tim Tebow and Kyle Orton as his QBs.

But maybe you're right. Maybe no WR has ever returned to play in the same year he tore his achilles' tendon.

I've learned that even in the face of undeniable facts, you can still refuse to accept them. It's a lesson I've learned from you, actually. Ignore the facts and profess whatever you want to be true.

And I've learned that "facts' are rarely undeniable.

Bring 'em on.

We'll start with some basic football.

1. The San Francisco 49ers have won the Super Bowl 5 times.

2. Jerry Rice has more career TD receptions than any player in NFL history.

3. Vernon Davis is on the San Francisco 49ers.

Moving on. . .

1. The word "the" appears twice in this sentence.

2. It is possible to harness the power of wind.

3. The Miami Heat won the 2012-2012 NBA Championship.

Oh, one more:

A WR has returned to play in the same calendar year that he tore his achilles' tendon.

All undeniable except #3 in your "moving on" category. Any self-respecting attorney would have a field day with that language.

I see what you're trying to say, but since the Heat repeated, they won in 2012 as well as 2013. So saying they won the 2012 is still factually correct.

But you didn't say that, you said they won the 2012-2012 title. That is incorrect. What is undeniable is that they won the 2012-2013 title.

He was cleared for full participation but in his first practice back he broke his left pinkie finger and was immediately shut down and then missed the first five games (six weeks with the bye) of the year because of the finger. He then played the final 11 remaining games with 5 starts. In the team's final five games he put up stats of:

4 for 144 and 2 TDs.
7 for 78 and 1 TD.
7 for 116.
4 for 76.
3 for 34.

And then in the postseason he had games of:

4 for 204 and 1 TD.
6 for 93 yards.

Also, if anybody thinks he may have been held back or was only a limited player due to the Achilles, here are the % of snaps he played in those final 7 games (including the playoffs):

96.3
94.0
93.3
91.7
67.6 (Week 17 when players were rested)
83.3
97.2

Thomas tore his achilles in early February so he was probably about 3 months ahead of Crabs was. Given that time frame, it certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility to think he could potentially play in 4-5 regular season games this year. I hope we will be in the position record wise where we can take some extra precaution in bringing him back.
