Scott Boras says Harvey's innings limit was misunderstanding
Boras backed off of his September pronouncements that the Mets were the anti-christ and that his client, Mets ace pitcher Matt Harvey, was being mis-managed after coming back from Tommy John surgery.
Boras, attending yesterday's General Manager meetings in Boca Raton, Florida, said that the team actually handled his client appropriately with his innings pitched during the late season and into the playoffs, despite suggesting that they give him the Stephen Strasburg shut-down treatment that worked so beautifully for the Washington Nationals back in 2012.
In September, Boras asserted -- quite definitively -- that renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrews had mandated a hard innings limit of 180 for Harvey, who was pitching his first full season after rehabbing his restructured elbow. Dr. Andrews - who performed Harvey's surgery - has never actually issued any such pronouncement.
At yesterday's GM meetings, Boras stated, again, quite definitively, that there is no such thing as a hard innings limit after Tommy John surgery:
If any reporters guffawed, clicked their teeth, or attempted to smack Boras, it has not been reported.
