Schiano is not an x's and o's guy, he never had any shot at the pro level. Even at Rutgers he was overrated. Recruiting was supposed to be his strongest asset and yet NJ was just hemorrhaging talent outside of state. Florida was supposed to be where his connections were but all he was getting were Flordia, FSU and Miami's castoffs. I really have no idea what this guy's appeal is.

Why is he a jerk? I never understood the criticism on Shiano. There are many hard ass coaches out there, why does he get so much heat for this? The way the media portrayed him was pretty unfair in my opinion, an easy target cause he was pushing out an ok qb for an unknown 3rd rounder. Simple fact was he wanted his guy if he was gunna stake his Tampa Bay coaching life in a qb, and who can blame him for that? Freeman is nothing special.
If you are talking about the Kneel down where TB tried to jump the snap, It was a close game they wanted to win. I dont blame him at all for doing that and I kind of liked the move. You never know what could happen it might have caused a fumble...

I just dont understand all the Criticism Shiano gets.

Well, as to that I couldnt say. I didnt see evidence to that either way, aside from this seasons poor record. But there were many distractions in TB this season. Maybe he could have done a better job managing them.
