Then they listed to the defendant's testimony and both sides had an opportunity to present witnesses. After the testimony was concluded the judges (51 of them, not 1 like in our system) voted and it took 26 votes to either convict or exonerate. If the defendant was found not guilty he/she was richly compensated by the accuser(s) for the unfair accusation. If he was found guilty the sentence was: he became the property of the victim's family or families if the victims came from more than one family. The rules were simple. They could (a) release him and the convicted person was free or (b) they could make a slave out of him and do whatever the hell they wanted with their slave or (c) kill him in any way they preferred. I love this idea for many of our crimes, but this would never go over in this country. We have way too many people who think we should feed, clothe, take good care of and give cable TV to the killers, rapists, etc of this world instead of treating them in a similar manner to the crime they committed.

It blows my mind anyone could know what Sandusky was doing and not do anything about it. I'm not about snitching, but when kids are being sexual assaulted it doesn't matter. When kids are being harmed that's when someone needs to step in and help and Joe Pa and company knew and did nothing.
