Other all-star thoughts:

Scrap the home-run derby. Replace it with a hitting exhibition where a pitching machine throws a randomized variety of pitches: say a slider, curve, and fastball, all guaranteed to be strikes. The exhibition starts out at a fastball speed of 90, and increments 10mph each round. A player has to earn so many "hits" per round to advance to the next round. A hit is a ball placed in the outfield alleys/lines, or the usual infield holes. Bonus points for homeruns.

Going to have to employ lots of technology to display the hit areas, and tracking the pitches; ideally overlaid on the screen in real time. Perfect for the video game generation.

The Giants and A's aren't rivals. And if you want to see either team you can. Same goes for most of the other faux regional rivalries Selig tried to create.

Yes, you're playing devil's advocate, but you are still using a logical fallacy by alluding to having knowledge of what the masses want (or that interleague has increased revenue). No need to play that game, or really to play devil's advocate at all.

1. Expand to 32 teams, move AZ DBacks to Monterrey Mexico, POR, LV.
2. Eliminate DH, 2 Leagues East West, 2 Divisions per League

West
Pacific - SF, OAK, LAD, POR, LAA, SD, SEA, LV
Central - COL, CHC, CHW, LV, MIN, DET, KC, STL

East
North - NYY, BOS, NYM, PHI, TOR, MIN, MIL, PIT
South - ATL, FLA, TB, TEX, HOU, WAS, BAL, MON (Monterrey Mexico)

Playoffs

2 Division Winners, 2 WC Teams WC can come from either division. You still have the same number of teams in the playoffs, but you are making sure that the best 4 are representing.

If you do 4 divisions and 4 division winners, well you could get a .500 team make the playoffs and a team that wins 90+ not make it if there is a division that is super weak.

Home Field for the WS should be best record in regular season+ Playoffs.
