Even though Amaro has blocked Ruf the last 2 years, Sandburg sees potential in him. Ruf has adjusted his stance by moving closer to the plate. (Last year he struck out a lot on outside pitches). Ruf also worked on his lateral foot movements during the offseason by hiring a personal trainer. This may help him in the outfield. All in all,Ruf is determined to stay in the bigs with the Phillies. Sandburg has placed him in the lineup tonight,so he will get some more at bats. Sandburg is going against Amaro, but I hope Ruf does well enough this spring so it becomes clear that they need his bat.

Perhaps with superior baseball acumen and individual players successes that Sandberg chooses, perhaps Sandberg will force Mr Owner to remove you know who.

One can only hope... I think the bigger factor will be if the fans stay out of the park, and don't buy any merchandise as well as low TV numbers.

The Phillies enjoyed what can happen when you put a great product on the field, that had a good shot of winning it all. They made money hand over fist, and now that "extra" money won't be coming in. I am sure they already notice it.

I think the fans will show up in the early part of the season. Even if the Phillies hover around the 500 mark, I think they will keep coming. Philly fans are always hopeful. The team has spent a lot of money on payroll. But it is frustrating that 185 million dollars does not give us more certainty.

People will always show up, but the more they are out of contention the less people will show up.

Phillies TV numbers dropped dramatically by 38% two years ago.
Phillies' local television viewership falls dramatically in 2012

Last year ticket sales were also down.
Phillies Ticket Sales Behind Pace Of Previous Seasons - Philliedelphia

According to this article they might have lost close to $25 million dollars last year in ticket sales.. thats gotta hurt!
Why Phillies attendance numbers matter

Apparently it didn't hurt enough because Amaro still signed all those guys except for Halladay and that's only because he retired. I have some flaw that makes me watch them no matter what but if they aren't competitive this year I hope some more people jump off the bandwagon so Amaro doesn't start extending Rollins and Howard a few more years

Yep. Owners will tolerate a momentary downturn in income but if it continues past five minutes, you know who may get the boot up his dumbass.

How much do you think it would take to get a controlling interest in the team? I just filled out my brackets and I'm feeling pretty good about my chances of picking up that Billion.

Here's how you breakdown your billion:
89% Purchase of Phillies
7% Cocaine
4% Hookers

I appreciate the advice but I think the Cocaine/Hookers ratio is a little off. I'm afraid when you're talking about a billion dollars 7% coke would render the hookers almost useless. I think this is more realistic:

89% Purchase of Phillies
5% Cocaine
4% Hookers
2% Viagra

Don't bet guys, ever. I never paid that bookie back for the Phillies first ST loss, so I'm locked in his basement with an apple in my mouth and this black gimp-suit on. Let me be a lesson to you. This prick doesn't even use lube.

It's not all bad though, he lets me use his phone and log into my Sports SportsHoopla account when he's not butt-fucking me.

This is wrong. You are buying cocaine for you, the hookers, and for entertaining free agents. Don't make a rookie mistake, Ced.

But, if you insist on your breakdown, take the 2% and invest it in a yacht instead of viagra. You always want to be in international waters when a hooker dies or when a free agent freaks out, high on cocaine that you supplied him, and kills a servant.

You start spending money on the latter three categories Cedrique, you're going to end up like Amaro with little IQ and a full blown STD or three.

I haven't even collected the money and I have so much to learn. Having money seems like a lot of responsibility. Luckily I have a buddy (Kevin Troudeau) who can help me with all this stuff.

I"m still looking at other options. I was looking at a small plane but believe it or not I found a guy on Craigslist that has a Boeing 777 for sale. I can't imagine where he would get a plane that big but if the price is right I might be a buyer.

Kevin knows his shit. He told me all the secrets that the government has been trying to hide from me. Now? I learned that my urine cures cancer and I have an online store that sells my urine at $49.95 a vial.

Cedrique, there are several boneyards out here in Arizona where you can buy a commercial as well as military aircraft. That 777 for sale is majorly bogus because that plane is very new unless he knows something about a plane that left Malaysia. But then he might have 239 new friends who know about it as well.
