Sandburg is Giving Ruf a hard look.

Even though Amaro has blocked Ruf the last 2 years, Sandburg sees potential in him. Ruf has adjusted his stance by moving closer to the plate. (Last year he struck out a lot on outside pitches). Ruf also worked on his lateral foot movements during the offseason by hiring a personal trainer. This may help him in the outfield. All in all,Ruf is determined to stay in the bigs with the Phillies. Sandburg has placed him in the lineup tonight,so he will get some more at bats. Sandburg is going against Amaro, but I hope Ruf does well enough this spring so it becomes clear that they need his bat.

I think the fans will show up in the early part of the season. Even if the Phillies hover around the 500 mark, I think they will keep coming. Philly fans are always hopeful. Apparently it didn't hurt enough because Amaro still signed all those guys except for Halladay and that's only because he retired.
