I'm not trying to read Chip's mind here, that is a rather fruitless effort. I'm simply commenting on the facts of the situation, and those are that Foles is just flat-out better than Sanchez.

Also, why are you ignoring Foles 2013 stats? They count just as much as his 2014 stats do, and they slaughter any numbers that Sanchez has ever put up.

2013 was an off the charts great season. They do matter and is the reason why he is marketable. Kelly doesn't think like most people though. I actually agree it seems a little crazy (by conventional wisdom) to be dumping Foles for Sanchez. But that may be what is happening.

The Bils & Jets should be in a bidding war to.acquire Foles, both teams need a QB in the worst way.

I don't disagree with that at all, I just don't think there is any chance Sanchez is the starter. If Foles is traded, I think it guarantees that Chip has a deal for Mariota on the table.

If Foles is traded, I do agree they will draft a QB. I wouldn't be surprised though if Kelly has his eye on Hundley. They can draft him and still keep all their draft picks.

Eh. I very well may be missing something, but I don't see anything special about Hundley.

Sanchez can't throw a ball more than 20 yards down the field. If he's the starting qb we are well and truly fucked.
How many INT's did he have? 11? That would be one more than Foles in the same number of games.

Something in the water in philly.:noidea:

There's only a very, VERY small subset of Eagle fans that would be ok with Sanchez as the starter. Thankfully, none of those are in management.

Sanchez ended with an 88 rating - by far the best year of his career. In his last two games it was 96 and 99 with 86 total passes. Clearly he got more comfortable with the system and Kelly trusted him to throw the ball.

Foles in 2014 has an 82 rating, which can be argued was pretty good given the state of the line for several of those games. Still a pretty major regression.

This was the first year in the system for Sanchez and he performed pretty well overall. He also is arguably more athletic and a better passer. The big question is his decision making (i.e. INTs), which a coach always thinks is fixable.
dpd you cheerlead for a lot of sucky players. Last one you went hard for..and i mean HARD never played another down in the NFL.

so forgive me for not loving your Sanchez endorsement

I'm not endorsing him at all. Just observing what is going on here.

What does it matter? We don't have anyone to go down the field and catch it anyways. LOL

The Eagles win with Foles and they lose with Sanchez. That is not lost on Chip Kelly. Does anyone here honestly think that CK will start Sanchez over Foles? That is just too funny to comprehend.

On top of that we all have been posting here guessing what will or will not happen and for the most part all of us have been wrong. CK is elusive in his planning and he does a great job hiding. One of the things I like about him is that he is not afraid to rock the boat. He has a plan and he is going to get the pieces he feels we need to get it done. Until that has finally happened I think some are just too early your assessments of him just because you do not like the decisions he has made so far.

I agree with you here. The issue for the fans is they are seeing a half baked plan. Much of it doesn't make sense. But if we knew the whole story, we would probably be much happier. But Kelly can't tell us the whole story yet as it could throw a wrench in the plans. Its a competitive marketplace and telling the fans the plan is also telling the enemy. We really won't get a total feel for what is going on until post draft.

As it is, we can only speculate on the parts that are done and the obvious pieces hanging out there. The two biggest things right now that don't make sense is (1) Sanchez signing such a good contract - suggests that Foles may not be there. and (2) Three good ILBs on the roster - Suggests that one of them is trade bait.

Foles only got sacked 9 times beyond a junk piece of shit offensive line with tons of injuries. Sanchez got sacked 23 times behind a much better offensive line.

I think you are overvaluing Sanchez' new deal a bit. It is a contract that is contingent on his meeting incentives. He signed a 2 year $9million contract which makes sense for a decent backup. It could be $16 mil but I am pretty sure he never meets any of this incentives. Maybe $4.5 mil is overpaying a little but then again Kolb gets $3mil a year and makes Sanchez look elite.

I wouldn't start Sanchez over Foles if you guaranteed me infinite blowjobs from whatever actresses or singers I want for the rest of my life.

LOL....I was going to say -- I'm willing to sacrifice one year of Sanchez as the starter for that proposal, and a high draft pick =)

I suspect that Kelly may not see it that way. He has been doing his indepth end of year evaluation and I think what we are hearing is that they like Sanchez more than Foles. They figure they can get a first or equivalent for Foles and go with Sanchez as the starter - at least until the next guy is ready....and I am not convinced its Mariota. Kelly doesn't listen to the hype and the media. He looks at the players and what they can do.

Prior to the Bradford trade, the more I think about this, the more convinced I am that on Kelly's depth chart Foles was number 2, which was going to be an ugly situation for. So Kelly traded his backup QB to a team that liked him (and will likely give him a huge raise), and a #2 for his new starter.
