EDIT: Contract details seemed to surface. One year guaranteed $5M ($8M incentives) with an option to pick up the 4 year for the remaining $12M/per ($20M guaranteed).

Changing this to a B+ grade. Essentially a 1 year prove it deal with incentives. I still can't give this an A since the Broncos may take away time from younger talent on a team slightly in rebuild mode on offense, but it's certainly a good pickup for now. Also, Okung is hardly a longer term solution so at least Denver can trial him this year, but exercising the 4 year option may not really be that great of one. Still, it's all about options in the NFL and Denver is certainly getting a premium deal for now. On a personal note: Dammit Seattle...

What a dumb move he made with this deal. It's awful for him. Just get an agent next time.

I was really hoping we could a kept him... I trust John and Pete but we can't expect Russ to just create time with his legs all the time, we need to protect him better... Our O-line has me worried right now...

So be it. Seahawks "strong offer" must of been pretty weak to not be able to beat this. Not looking good for a average OL right now.

Hard to say if repping himself hurt him or if it simply his injury history. Think he still may find someone to pay him 5-7 million. Broncos have Clady as LT, he's a 10 million cap hit coming off a ACL I believe. Broncos can cut him after June 1st for a measly 600,000 dead money. So cut Clady after June, sign Okung for say 5 million or maybe 6 million. Just speculating of course, but the point I'm making is that some guys are getting cut June 1st and that may be when Okung gets a contract or not.

Well I guess we don't have to wait till June 1.

Losing Okung stings a bit, but we still have the draft and June 1st cuts to add depth. Maybe a trade, but who knows.

As opposed to taking 4 million to play for us next year? (the prevailing wisdom about how much we could get him for)

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the Seahawks offered him a one year "prove you can stay healthy for an entire year and we'll revisit your status next year" deal with guarantees including bonuses that added up to what Denver was guaranteeing for the 2016 season, but not the additional four years that Denver offered if he proved he could last a whole year without getting hurt. If he manages to stay healthy in 2016 and that four year deal kicks in, there's no guarantee that he won't miss time during the length of that part of the deal, so I'm not heartbroken that the Seahawks opted not to put themselves in the position of offering that kind of money for that length of time to a guy who has yet to prove that he can play all 16 games in a season in his entire career. Under those circumstances, the unknown (draft pick, free agent pick-up or trade acquisition) sounds preferable to the known.

As of right now this is the Seahawks OL

Garry Gilliam UNdrafted free agent signed May 2014 By the end of the year looked like a decent RT

Mark Glowinski 4th round pick in 2015 Not much to go on, but did look good the one game he started

Justin Britt 2nd round pick 2014 Sucks

Patrick Lewis Practice squad player for Packers, then practice squad player for Jags, practice player for Browns, released and picked off waivers by Seahawks. Has played OK.

J'Marcus Webb 7th round pick. Went from the Bears to the Vikings, Raiders and now Seahawks Journeyman.

Surely the Seahawks will add to this in the draft, because right now this is expansion level quality OL

How about giving up our first rounder for Joe Thomas? Would our cap situation allow the FO to make that move? Cleveland seems to be in full rebuild mode for the 9th time in the last 10yrs.

Doesn't seem likely. Browns want a first round pick plus more. He's 31 makes big bucks ( 9.5 million this year, then 10 million the following years)

I was thinking restructure but never mind if Cleveland wants multiple picks. That's a little to rich.

Nobody biting on a 1st plus, maybe the Browns come down on that demand. Even then a expensive short term answer.

i don't like it but the Hawks would Match a 6 million offer. Okung is just another injury waiting to happen. Someone needs to offer i believe 8+ to take him away. Okung is not worth 8 million let alone 6 if you ask me. He averages what 9 to 10 games a season?

cant see paying that much money for a part time player that is only a average LT if even that right now. Yes it would suck to have to replace both Sweezy and Okung but hey maybe this will be the straw that breaks the Camels back and they cut ties with Cable lol.

Chris Morgan took a 26th ranked oline with little talent and turned them into a top 4 Oline. THATS Coaching right there.

I say go out and hire T.J. Woods from Oregon :P, Dude is a genius Oline coach.

Seattle - 4th in scoring.

Atlanta - 21st in scoring.

If he were looking for a 1 year deal (which this is) he could have fared better than 5 million guaranteed. I don't know why they even bothered with a team option that the Broncos gave him because they'll never exercise it.

RO averages closer to 12 games a season. That is still about a 25% loss in his attendance. Pretty bad IMO.

He was always healthy for the postseason. Getting him healthy for those games probably kept him out of a few regular season games which he could have played in.

If he plays all or most of next season and stabilizes that position they WILL exercise it.

Look at Oline RANKINGS not scoring. Using Scoring as a Oline grading system would mean Seattle had the 4th best Oline but they had the 31st best Oline in the NFL lmao.

I still would LOVE LOVE LOVE for them to grab TJ Woods from Oregon :D
