Per ESPN Boston: Bobby V off the record reportedly saying the Sux shopping Youkilis to the Giants and Philth.

Q: Would you trade for him? If so, would you part with Hembree?

Vitals: 33 yo, on 15 day DL (retroactive to 4/28) with a back strain, 288/389/489 lifetime. Plays 3B and 1B. $12MM this year, $13MM club option for 2013 ($1MM buyout). Projects to 3.0 WAR this year.

Obviously, his back would need to check out, and the team doc who saw Alfonso can NOT be involved. :sorry:

If they take Zito, Huff, and Rowand off our hands? Sure.

I realize you're responding in jest, but Youkilis has value. Huff and Rowand do not. Interesting thought on Zeets, though.

Zeets plus Hembree for KY?

No.

With Weez going down, we need HH more now than ever. On top of that, he plays a position that we are rather deep at at the moment (Panda' injury is not a recurrence threat).

Unless he can play the OF, I do not see him as a good fit for us, regardless of price.

I tend to lean this way as well. I'm more and more of the opinion that Belt will be just fine if left there every day. Thus, KY has no position once Panda is back. $12MM is too much to pay a platoon player. We've already got two dead money contracts in Huff and RoRo.

I'd consider Youk, but the Sox would have to take at least Huff off our hands. I'm not as attached to Hembree as Cal seems to be though, but I wouldn't trade him for Youk. Boston has a logjam at the corner infield positions. I might go Huff and Schierholtz for Youk, and if we could unload Zito's contract I might throw in a prospect.

As an aside, I've always thought Nate's swing would work well in Boston.

I can't see the Sux taking Huff's contract and a bench player for Youk. Surely they can get more for him than that. I wonder what the Philth would give?

Sox were short on LHH outfielders at the beginning of the season. Not sure if they filled that hole. And Nate is a ".300" hitter in Boston.

They found a way to make Cody Ross productive...

Pffft. Even I could hit .280 with 15 HRs in that Little League field.

OK, I exaggerate somewhat about my hitting (but not in my assessment of Fenway). I question what Youk's numbers would be in our park.

He's 33 and injured, likely past his prime. I certainly wouldn't overpay, and I wouldn't even make an even trade for him. If Boston wants us to underpay because maybe KY hates Valentine's guts (which is understandable) and they want to dump him at all costs, then we can talk.

Do they need a mediocre 2B? We seemed to have cornered the market on those.

ManBur for Mr Jelly, straight up, no cash?

I would not, but that is more due to, as I said above, I do not think he is a good fit for the team. But you?

Simply put, fuck no.

I get that Hembree is a power relief arm, and that is about as combustible of a prospect as one can have when considering flame outs, but he has more value than an expensive, hurt, and on the decline player.

Our pen is currently in pieces, and it would be retarded to trade the one plus relief arm we have in the system that's close to being ML ready

I don't think we should be in the market for a corner infielder unless it involves us getting a superstar, or a OF/up the middle prospect and it involves Belt and Huff.

RedSox aren't parting with Pedroia/AGon/Ellsbury any time soon and they don't have any young pitching/hitting prospects worth while.

I like Youk, especially his approach at the plate, but he's too old and injury prone and doesn't fit on our team.

Barnes, Bogarts, Ruanado, and Middlesbrooks are all "top prospects". I get what you're trying to say, but their farm, and it's depth, make ours look laughable.

Barnes is far off, Ruanado isn't worth giving up Belt, and Middlebrooks is the reason they are trading Youk.

Bogaerts is the one guy I really like, but he too is far off and it would be nice to get ML-ready hitters since we are in a win-pretty damn soon mode.

But yeah.

I'd like this. Youk can get fresh start off the DL and away from a polluted clubhouse.

^ haha, and im sure that yankees logo under your name has nothing to do with wanting that trade to go down.

Actually, it doesn't. He's on my fantasy roster and he's been a mess all season. A guy like Youkilis could strive in a new environment. That doesn't mean he's not my least favorite player. :D

Actually the Giants are now a pretty young team, aren't they?

Huff isn't but he's not playing, Vogelsong isn't young but he's not injury prone, and Franchez...well ok, Franchez

But still, our team is one of the younger ones around now.
