I was listening to our local Sports talk radio 750 AM The Game and they had some guy from the Canada news saying Paul Allen might be interested in purchasing a NHL team and bringing it to Portland. I would love this as it would give the sports media around here something else to talk about besides the Blazers 24/7 during the winter months. And also hockey is very fun to watch at a live event. Our Winterhawks team went to the WHL finals this past year and they drew a pretty good crowd. I think Hockey would thrive here in the NW.

I'm not really sure that Portland is going to be high on the list, although it's a town who's name has been batted around quite a bit. These days when it comes to expansion or relocation, it's all about the arena situation.

/plus an owner willing to bend over for the BOG

I don't think Bettman will move another team for a long time honestly. He's gonna fight tooth and nail for PHX to stay there, and I have a gut feeling that he's gonna make it work out somehow, even if it's the wrong decision.

I would totally road trip up to Portland to see a game. Then I'd go to Voodoo doughnuts.

IMO Seattle would be a better city in the NW for hockey than Portland with no NBA team there. Just gotta get a damn arena built. Key Arena sucks. Both would support a team though, I have no doubts about that. I'd be tempted to jump ship from the Sharks to Portland if they got a team, I for sure would if Seattle ever got one.

I've played at the Key Arena before. It doesn't suck.

Yeah, Seattle before Portland, IMO. But there's no way I'm jumping ship.:D

There's only one problem with your scenario. Paul Allen owns the Seattle Seahawks. According to NFL rules he can't own another sports franchise. I don't think he's about to sell the Seahawks so he can buy a NHL team.

Allen could own an NHL team in Portland because Portland doesn't have an NFL team. Allen already owns the Trail Blazers. Allen could not own an NHL team based in Seattle though.

My friend works there. He Is in charge of expanding voodoo outside of Portland!

my cousin went on a roadtrip a couple of months ago to Portland. He called a local friend up to meet, and his friend said "yeah, let's meet at Voodoo at 2:00". So the friend shows up at about 3:00, just in time for my cousin to be near the front of the line.
asshole move, but smart.

People really wait that long for a doughnut? I'm sure it's tasty, but that's insane.

Lou Brown: [Cerrano arrives at spring training] Who is that?
Charlie Donovan: Must be Cerrano. Defected from Cuba, wanted religious freedom.
Lou Brown: What's his religion?
Charlie Donovan: Voodoo.
