Someone help me out here;

What is the games played rule to be eligible for having your name on the cup?

I know it's 1 playoff appearance, but what is the regular season total?

I know the team has final say, but I am curious as to the rule. And if the Kings can pull it off tonight, I will explain why I am asking.

Players appearing in 41 regular-season games or one Stanley Cup Final game for the championship team have their names engraved on the Cup.

Who gets their name on the Stanley Cup?

Thanks Dash.

Jack Johnson - 61 with the kings this year.

Word around here is he is somewhat distressed at the Kings going to the final and has been using it as motivation for next year. If the Kings say "sorry, you could have your name on the cup... but no." it's just going to motivate him more.

A very motivated Jack Johnson could be a good thing.

The Stanley Cup is the only trophy in pro sport that bears the names of players, coaches, management and staff from the winning teams.

Prior to 1977 only players who had completed the Stanley Cup playoffs were eligible. Today, players appearing in 41 regular-season games or one Stanley Cup Final game for the championship team have their names engraved on the Cup. The NHL makes exceptions for players who do not meet the standard because of injury or other extenuating circumstances.

It takes 13 years to fill a ring on the Stanley Cup. When a ring is full, an older ring is removed from near the top of the Cup and put on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Only one name has been added against the rules. When the Edmonton Oilers won their first championship in 1984, owner Peter Pocklington included his father's name - "Basil Pocklington" - among the names engraved. It was later scratched out with a series Xs.

Pocklington - What an asshat. He recently put up his Stanley Cup rings for sale at auction.

If the Kings do indeed prevail, long-time Kings announcer Bob Miller should get his name on the Cup...

IDK about that, but he should get a ring like the Devils did for Doc

Actually, I like that better as well...Give the man a ring.

That's up to management. Rings can be given to anyone the team feels deserves one, whether that's an announcer, staff members, guys who played 3 games for them in the regular season and then got traded, whatever.

Before you get your hopes up...
He turned down Jim Rutherford who tried to sign him to play for the 'Canes in spring 2006.

So this would be his SECOND missed opportunity at a Cup.

I'm not so sure. I think LA's record of 27-22-12 before they traded Jack Johnson compared to 29-9-3 after they traded him says quite a bit.

The Ducks gave everyone who worked for the team a ring, including the ice girls.

That's an great idea that I will keep in mind if my team ever wins a cup in my lifetime.

Congrats on your hardware, Dav.
