I think it's still very possible. The Royals are obviously off to a white hot start, but even the homeriest of Royals fans would tell you there are guys playing WAY over their heads. Their pitching staff has an ERA+ of 168 and their lineup an OPS+ of 161. That pendulum is going to swing back.

I think losing Shields is going to hurt and I don't think they've done enough to make up for it. He was their best pitcher and accounted for about 25% of their starters innings last season.

Then again, I think it's perfectly reasonable to think the Royals lineup will improve over last season.

Who knows? I still think it's a fair bet - kind of 50/50 in my mind. We're not even 5% into the season.

The Royals lineup improved, without a doubt, Morales/Rios(or even Dyson) over Butler/Aoki and 5 players not even in their prime years yet.

Everyone keeps talking about losing Shields, 1 pitcher out of 12/13, on the best pitching staff in the AL. They did down grade a bit on Shields, because I dislike Edison, but then they turned around and improved their Long Reliever and bullpen, which was already the best in the majors. The pitching staff will be fine. If Edison and C Young had the royals defense last year, who knows how their numbers would have looked like.

not experts or anyone else predicted the Royals to be worth much last year, nor this year, but its easy to predict a team to fail, most all teams in the majors do. Royals, heck even the Tigers improved from last season, both more on offense than pitching...Tigers lost Max and downgraded their staff, so do they drop below CLE and CHW?
